Lag - Yes it's laggy every now and then. Fingers crossed for Froyo, but the lag is nitpicking - its not as bad as the examples on Youtube.

I've heard a lot about it. It seems to do with the filesystem being used for the internal flash memory. I've seen hacks on the net to move parts of the system to a fast MicroSD, and that dramatically boost the smoothness of the interface.

Yeah I am using one of the hacks, moved my apps to the external memory card which is formated in etx4.
The performance difference is huge.  Will be interesting to see if samsung change their file systems and also the flags they set uon their file systems, they have some very easy ways to speed up their phone just by setting simple flags on the file system.
Can you give a linky to that hack please?

Anyone noticed this issue...

You have a contact, you have multiple telephone numbers for that contact..

They call or send a text etc..

You look in your call log and it shows the wrong number they actually called from..
ie they called from their mobile but it displays their house phone that called.

I think it just reports the first entry you have for them...

Yet again can't edit my post, I think you have a limited amount of time to edit posts or something.

Anyway turns out had two entries. (doh)

speaking of that, anyone know how to fix this issue.

Have a contact under ICE
have also the person listed under their real name..

When they call I get the ICE come up.. would be nice to get their name instead, anyone have any ideas?
probably set by whoever was entered first.. or alphabetically...

not sure there is a way around that if you have 2 listings. I suspect your right about it being alphabetical. As a compromise sometimes a phone will list names first if they have a '.' (full stop) in front of them

I used to do this with a nokia I had so the most frequently used contacts appeared first. For example the name 'n95' became '.n95'

What I did with my contact list was create a new ICE group and moved important contacts there ... that way you only have to have one contact entry for each person.

Works for me ... not sure if this will work for you as well.

Is that a replacement aluminium back plate or a case that goes all around... The gel ones look very bulky and defeat the object of the slim SGS IMO.

It is a full case which is what I want.  I haven't seen anywhere offer a backplate only, have you seen that for other phones?

+1. I love the slimness but dislike the slipperyness. My ideal solution would be an alternative/replacement back that had a rubberised coating like we have on the back of our My Sky remote.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Actually looking at the phone, a backplate would probably be better with a screen protector too...

Hopefully they will come out.

Amazing how many cases are out for the iphone 4...

No idea why they put a teflon backplate on this phone.

I'd definitely want aluminum I think.

IIRC I have seen replacement backplates for other phones, but don't quote me on it!

But it would be ideal IMO, if possible. And a screen protector and your done... and still slim :)

nah no lock, I have wavesecure on it so could track it and remotely lock it if I wanted but hate pins etc if that is what you mean.
even with pins or wavesecure it is easy enough for someone to just flash over it, all you need is google and a pc these days.

anyone else using the JG5 Firmware that numfarr posted about on the other thread?

http://android.modaco.com/content/samsung-galaxy-s-s-modaco-com/313472/i9000xwjg5-now-available/

Apparently it's resolving a lot of the lag issues, but, it's only Beta, be a few more days till the official release by Samsung. At least they are trying though!
