meeekael: trying to use launcherpro and when I try to change the number of homescreens it asks for a restart, restarts and just defaults back to 3. Anyone know how to fix this?
meeekael: Whatever the newest one on the market is, so im guessing .8.2. It's really strange, I've done a few re-installs and nothing is changing, just defaults to 3 home screens everytime.
A shame because it seems like a great little program. Perhaps it doesn't agree with JPU?
More research: No settings that require an app restart are remembered. All other ones remember fine.
All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.
Neets: @Brendan you have to go with what suites you best. Can you not use Titanium Backup to remove the apps you don't want? I've tried Darky's roms too. My preference is Doc's roms. I agree aboutthe battery usage. I'd like more life :)

nofam: From what I've read on the Darky/Doc debate, Darky seems to be a bit hit & miss on fixing issues in a meticulous way - he tends to just crash another ROM out, and gloss over previous issues.
Doc and his crew roll ROMs out on a more orderly fashion (like devs usually do!)

I have removed them sometimes in the past using this or other methods, but it sometimes leads to instabilities.
So in preference to a stable rom, I usually just leave them there. Time vs results (e.g. I could spend hours researching what apps are safe to remove and how for 10% more ram, or I can spend 1 minute moaning about it and then move on. The moaning is more efficient lol).
• With both rom's, I set them to use GSM only (I never use cell data due to expense; I use wifi exclusively).
• I also have wifi turned on only when actively used, and have set the sleep options on it to turn off when not plugged in.
• I always use auto brightness
• I typically use a dark or plain black background, lots of transparent widgets
• I use a full body skin kit - not a metal case. I even do the same on the phone too lol
The phone will use about 10 to 15% per 12 hours.
With one of the Doc kitchen roms, I chose the JPE modem as it is claimed to be more battery effienct; 1 to 2% per 7 hours; I noticed no improvement. Now, some have commented that such changes only become apparent after some several days usage - the battery needs to re-calibrate or some other mystical process. I think i'd pursue that if there was more than just say-so to it currently.
Amyway, I think it's fair comment to say that if your phone lasts more than a day on the battery, there isn't much of a problem. And I guess there isn't; infact, I sometimes think that having a 1% accurate battery meter is actually the real problem - it's like that ulcer on your gum - it'd heal nicely if you stopped rubbing it with your tongue.. Battery is the same lol.
Anyway, it must be getting late, I'm rambling.
