vinnieg: anyone else using the JG5 Firmware that numfarr posted about on the other thread?
http://android.modaco.com/content/samsung-galaxy-s-s-modaco-com/313472/i9000xwjg5-now-available/
Apparently it's resolving a lot of the lag issues, but, it's only Beta, be a few more days till the official release by Samsung. At least they are trying though!

Shame to here about your crappy experience with the camera, I was hoping the camera would be better as this is important to me. Maybe I will have to wait for another smart phone to come out before I upgrade. I really wish that the new nokia smartphone was android rather than symbian, because it sounds like the camera on that will be extremely good.

Yes, I am running it along with a lot of people at modaco but it is still laggy I am afraid.
I am now using
jg5 + hack of moving apps to ext4 partition on class 6 sdcard + using autokiller on aggressive settings.
Seems to be making it snappier.. but jg5 by itself isn't enough.
autokiller seems to be making a big difference.

Kilack:This is one of the reviews I've read. So not from an HTC Fanboi ;)Xt1ncT: So what's the verdict i9000 v desire?
I read a recent review if these 2 bs the iPhone 4, and the desire came first followed by iPhone then galaxy.
What do you guys think? I currently use iPhone 3G but am on the lookout for something else.

They aren't even in the same league. What review was that? someone that has shares in HTC?

Kilack:I've read quite a few over the last weekend. And most point towards the Galaxy being laggy after a bit of use. And of course it doesn't have an LED flash. The GPU isn't an issue for me as I don't have the phone to play games on (that's what my PS3 is for).Xt1ncT:Kilack:This is one of the reviews I've read. That is a shocking review really,.
Kind of misses some rather important things like.. CPU/GPU (for gaming and watching hd content etc), can you see the screen outside during the day? does the multitouch work properly? does the phone lag?
I think you need to find some more in depth reviews, they have just really glanced over the surface, I wouldn't base a decision on that.

The most important things are communication - email, texts, phoning, twitter/fb etc, and GPS navigation.
The rest is nice to have, but it must do the above well.
My iPhone 3g is starting to lag quite badly now, and I really want to make the right decision for the next couple of years worth of device usage!
