just got pushed a 27mb firmware update on telecom that took the note from MJ6 to MJ7 for both base firmware and modem. the changelog was simply described as 'stability fixes'.

maybe the CSC's were updated too.

apparently the MJ7 baseband improves call sound quality and connectivity. people are reporting better signal quality and LTE connectivity. but this was pushed in north america in mid november. Asia and Russia Note 3's are now recieving MK2 as the latest firmware. so i guess that might trickle to NZ soon.

then hopefully kitkat by feb?

Awesome, if anyone with a 2 degree Note3 gets this update, can you report on if it enables 4g or if the 4G toggle app works again.

The 2degrees & Vodafone Note 3s were bumped to MJ7 with the last update, so I'd imagine they will not get this one.

Jumped over to the note 3 :) loving it so far.... still miss my BB10 though, so as soon as a Z30 comes affordable I will get one ...

Anyone on Telecom Note3's with the recent update and noticed that the phone now seems to be stuck in Awake mode more often than not?

my "Android OS" service is maxed out in my battery usage, and Better Battery Stats shows the phone remains awake almost 100% of the time, and does not go into deep sleep. main kernel culprits are "resume_wakelock", "bam_dmux_wakelock" and "PowerManagerService_wakelock"

used to go into deep sleep faultlessly and use only 1% battery per hour... now goes about 4-7% per hour... :(

have not added any new apps or changed any settings - only difference has been the update from MJ6 to MJ7...

anyone notice similar?

I have finally managed to enable LTE on my parallel imported Note 3.
I purchased my Note 3 from Parallel imported and it is a French model, unfortunately LTE for TNZ is not working and as the French ROM is newer than the latest Telecom ROM I am unable to downgrade (I did try and soft bricked the phone due to restrictions on the later boot loader)

To enable LTE you will need to root the device, then
Enable Root Explorer (I use ES File Explorer)
Open the data/property/persisit.radio.lteon.xml file.
Change the content from false to true, save the file and restart the phone.

Voila the "LTE/WCDMA/GSM" network mode is now available.

Be warned that rooting your phone will trip Knox and will void your warranty.

I had been chasing my tail trying various edits to the build.prop file and 4g toggle apps which did not work but this simple edit has done the trick for me.

This fix should also enable the use of newer foreign ROMs with LTE.

I got a note 3 in the boxing day sales (2Degrees) from warehouse stationary (only two available in Masterton all other shops had none in stock) after reading through the forum it answered why 4G did not show up (am on Telecom) while I was in Wellington yesterday but am in no hurry to get it going as the Wairarapa does not have any Telecom 4G so far.

The phone has been good so far and the battery life so far has been good, the only thing I don't like and I had this problem on the S3 with 4.3 is when the wifi drops because it has a weak signal but I never have this issue with Cyanogenmod on the S3 or previous samsung firmwares.
Anyway to disable this bug? (It can't be a feature as it break's things that previously worked fine)

I have not setup Knox but what issues does it cause when flashing other firmwares?

Depending on your current firmware, there is no safe way to root mj7 without tripping knox

It's currently running MJ7, would flashing a legit firmware like the Vodafone one cause any issues?

Strange thing happened today when it had no bars of coverage but had HSDPA data and I was able to upload photos at the cape palliser lighthouse

I've got Omega v6 running on mine at the moment but I'll trial different ROMs as usual until I find the one that works best for me.

Getting 140Gbs down on 4G at home, roughly 1k from the nearest TNZ tower, so highly pleased with my choice. Thank you Santa! :-)

@Mckenndk - Knox was either already on the phone shipped, or enabled via the waiting update... it was Chinese FW.

Download mode clearly shows the 0x1 customisation code so no warranty available here. A couple of XDA threads suggest that flashing a stock ROM and recovery combo returns the code to 0x0 but I haven't attempted that yet.

I'll post once I've tried a stock flash.

EDIT:
OK, on stock now and the Knox 0x1 code remains. So once tripped, it looks like it it's there permanently. No doubt the hacking community will see this a a challenge and deliver a solution sometime in the future. Meantime, although some early stock firmwares will allow you to root your device without tripping the Knox code (search on XDA), it appears you're SOL with the more recent updates.

I got my Note 3 from Telecom on my contract and loving it so far.

however im torn between going the custom route and flashing something like Omega v6 ( or a better rom if u have suggestions ) which would break the warranty, or just staying with stock and keep the warranty while suffering from the battery drain bug and etc .

But im wondering, are Telecom store people really that educated to check Knox if i take the phone in for warranty some day ?! they all seem like sales people to me rather than technicians.

Would you guys recommend going with omega and voiding warranty ? The battery drain problem with the 4.3 update is really annoying. Sometimes the phone has 100% awake status, no deep sleep. i want to try a custom rom and see if it gets fixed.
