I guess that's the case then yeah. Well watching reviews online, plus that experience have really put me off the phone. Is it worth "Complaining" to Samsung NZ? Like I've said previously, I want to buy the phone, I want to like it, but really not enjoying my experience with it so far, which is the fault of the people trying to sell me the phone.

So because I walked into a store, played around with a phone for 5 minutes and it started heating up after using the camera, I'm a bad customer? I would like to make sure my money is actually going to be worth it, rather than not being able to use it for more than a few minutes doing light stuff without having to put the phone down because it's too hot. The in store experience for me was a very bad experience, and perhaps others in the future will do the same as me and notice the device is heating up and not buy either.

I could see you coming back into the shop asking why the handset is getting warm or why did the phone drop a couple of % of the battery when I was not using it

I have used a S20+ for a while now and on some days quite heavy usage and still have 40% battery left in the evening

You are finding excuses not to buy the handset instead of looking at the advantages over many top end handsets in the market today

While I'm inclined to believe you, there have been countless reviews online both in text and video form saying the exact opposite to what you are saying. Battery life is poor, phone overheats, I literally experienced the phone over heating myself. Apologies that I don't see the advantage of owning a handset that feels like it's just come out of the oven after 5 minutes. If this was demo/old firmware, then Noel Leeming needs to do something about it as it give the complete wrong impression of the phone.

Clicking on "View More" on PB Tech listing for the S20 at $1098 today yields the following where the processor is listed as Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.

Is this just a mistake due to copying overseas sourced copy? The detailed specification further down does not list processor type at all

Definitely a mistake as a result of copying from overseas website spec, official NZ S20 series have Exynos, not SD.

Some interesting "benefits" for German S20 owners, you can now use your phone to electronically store a range of legal ID cards, thanks to the embedded "Secure Element" chip (TIL).

While I like the convenience, and I'm sure the ze Germans are not doing things by halves, naturally I am wary of just how secure it really is, given security on Android seems to be like herding cats

I disagree completely.

If you can get your hands on the Gartner Report you'll see that Samsung has essentially been number 1 for mobile security (albeit with Knox or MDM) every year since 2015 I believe.
They have the 'Most Strong' ratings.
To the best of my knowledge Stock Android is now higher up than iOS.

This is a positive move I hope it becomes the norm sooner rather than later

You disagree completely... with my wariness? So I should just take the complete security of a new and untested application, with devastating consequences for getting it wrong, on faith?

No, I haven't seen the Gartner report, but given Gartner's corporate focus, I'd argue the audience of those reports is not your average Joline. Knox has some great benefits for the average consumer, but its primary focus is device management, and it certainly isn't a band-aid for all security issues present in Android. And while I would agree that Samsung seems to be more concerned with security than other Android OEMs, it is still based on Android, where data security has been somewhat of a secondary focus.

Don't get me wrong; one of the reasons I have an S20 is a moderate level of trust in Samsung's wares, but my trust is far from complete and absolute, especially as it extends to the underlying Android eco-system. I would be interested to see how this is technically implemented though.
