stevenz:

Been using the Note 7 for a few days, the performance is pretty bad at times, and that's after dropping the resolution down to 1080p and turning the animations down.

Very nice device otherwise, but the frequent significant lagginess is really offputting.

Iris scanning is too fiddly to be useful, the edge menu is relatively useless, the screen is really nice, the audio quality over headphones doesn't sound right at all, might just need some settings tweaked.

The screen-off notes is really handy. Can't seem to get them to pin to the lockscreen, but I may have misinterpreted how that works.

The blue light filter is very nice.

Google Quick Search box seems to be hammering the CPU, need to work out how to shut that off. (Edit: Settings\Applications\Default Applications\Device Assistance App\ - Change from Google to None, disables the home button long-press and seems to make Google a little bit less CPU hungry.)

Enabling GPU acceleration in the developer settings seems to make the UI a little bit less laggy, might just be placebo.

That sounds like a phone that needs to be returned.

Go: Settings > Display > toggle is near the top of the page.

It's also on the 'pull-down' screen that comes down from the top of the home screen.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

it ran a little slow when unlocking. i didnt like the way it took over the drop down menu for the phone and i didnt like the way you couldnt have a widget in the middle of the lock screen unless you replaced the clock at the top... then you didnt have a clock on the lock screen. played with it for about 10mins then went meh and uninstalled. no doubt i probably missed something but ah well.

Are you sure you've taken off the plastic packaging on the screen?

I noticed this too. I have my screen brightness quite low otherwise it hurts my eyes. In the note5 i had it on approx 20-25% and on the note7 I have it on approx 40% to get the same effect..

I changed it to adaptive rather than cinema, which is what I had it on. Seems to be more aligned now.

Arggghh. Why'd they change the SMS app layout. NOte 5 one is way better, I want my quick contacts at the top, not a pointlessly stupid search bar.

Can I remove that eye sore?

Use a third party sms tool. There are lots of them, many of them very well thought of, out in the play store.
