Never used Odin.

Performed many flashes with the sim in. No issues so far. Never even bought an external sim for my captivate. The 14gig internal goodness enough for me :-)

fallen: I read on one of the other forum's that if your using Odin then its better to remove the sim card and external SD card prior to flashing.
Have any of you removed the sim card and external SD card when flashing using CWM?

I have removed them for a cwm flash once or twice which probably wasn't needed and have not removed them other times without any problems. But during flashing with odin I did remove them both.

I'm finding the same after flashing it, no problems, smooth and the auto brightness function actually works effectively now

There used to be an app in the Market that allowed you to choose a different battery icon for the phone. The app has been removed (dont' know why) but one of the people on #romkitchen had it and has provided the URL to grab it from his Dropbox account. It's an *.apk file so you need to install it. Then run the app and you get a choice of different battery icons and selecting it will inject it into the framework-res-apk file.

About to try it myself. Not that I dislike my battery icon, but it's something new to try ;-)

Shrapnel: Hey Neets, I see you've got the latest K12T Speedmod kernel running with Doc's 9.1.4 JS3, how's that running for you? Will probably flash that over soon just wanted a few thoughts on it. Better/worse/ average?. Currently running the standard K12R from the Kictchen

I see I'm too late to reply, you've already flashed a later kernel :-)

Anyway, my battery drain was ~8% in as many hours. Speed is no different to the Trasig kernel I was using. Still don't see any need to tweak or lagfix.

I'm starting to read up on the Tegrak thread. I guess the only thing that puts me off is the big hoohar is about the lagfix and I just don't feel there's a need to lagfix my rom. You know the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't (lag)fix it"

Hey ho Neets.

Ta much for the link. I now have a shiny new circular battery indicator which means that the Smart Battery Monitor app has now been uninstalled. Just about to charge the SGS and see how well the new notification does. :D

Thanks also for the channel 6 tip. My wifi had been having issues with the repeater, the signal fluctuating for no apparent reason and the phone failing to get an ip addy from the repeater at times.

So far, all is stable with good signal everywhere. Boo yah!!!

So kudos for your tips and fixes.

Yeps, well 2.2.1 (assuming you're on it) is supposed to operate much better by default, compared to 2.1 and 2.2. If it's running fine without a lagfix, then no need to change it. If it does start to lag, then go ahead and turn it on.

I'm on the same kernel, so I may turn mine off to see how it runs.

Yes, I still all the lagfixes - as others have said it doesn't seem to affect general smoothness, but I do find that apps seem to start a little quicker etc.

You could run without it quite happily though, which is a little bit of a laugh - RFS was the devil personified when the SGS first came out, and now it no longer causes any lag. . . .

Yeah, I find that with the speedmod kernel and Doc's rom there's no issues with lag what so ever, as far as I know lagfix=issues if your not to careful especially with OCLF etc. I'm tempted to try the lagfix in the speedmod kernel but my phone isn't broken(laggy), so no need :)

Yes running Darky's 9.2 extreme edition with speedmod kernel, its running fine without any lagfix.

Doc's ROM without a lagfix is fast, there's no need to lagfix.
