Has anyone else come across this problem? Apart from this, the rom is slick and fast.

im also on 9.2 and also have wifi sleep set to "when screen off". when i unlock/turn the screen back on, wifi is up and ready to rock. i have noticed in v8.0 roms, that upon waking, the wifi was visibly off, and took a few seconds to reconnect. now in 9.2 it wakes up much much faster.

sorry this possibly doesnt help as it might suggest its your phone - what modem are you using? i am on UGJL2

JPY modem, I did select "Alternate Wifi driver" in the Darky ROM configurator app.

ah-hah. is that the one that supports adhoc networks? i installed the standard one...

worth trying the other one?? i read this was the problem causing most peoples wifi issues... i decided on the safer choice as i didnt think i needed adhoc support...

Yes thats the one. So to install the standard wifi driver I will have to reflash the rom, will it better to do a wipe and reflash.

you will need to tick the appropriate option in the configurator, and then reboot and reflash. if youre happy with the current setup other than this little issue, surely dont bother with the wipe - just do a nonwipe, and enjoy your phone for a bit!

ive found that i get so caught up in flashing this that and the next thing that i dont settle down to actually enjoy what ive got. been sitting on 9.2 for a while now, gave NeonGT theme a try, and now im just happy to sit back and "discover" the new themed screens and apps as i use the phone, and enjoy the speed! its good :)

If in doubt, try them out! Wow that rhymes. I mean +/- 200MB each and 15 minutes flashing each there is no harm in trying them both out and deciding which one you like the best, they're both highly polished roms and picking one is going to be more up to you. I personally after using Darky's v9.0.2 decided to move to Doc's for a trial and found it had a little bit of an edge on speed and stability, or maybe it was my imagination?! So give em' both a try

Might try out Doc's ROM first, however will wait till the kitchen updates as I have read it hasn't updated for a while now.

There's actually nothing out of date. There was mention of a new base, it was only one day different. That's what Doc has spoken of when he suggested there would be an update coming.

There's nothing anyone has found that's a genuine bug across the board. Not sure when Doc will have time to add anything "new/different" that's not a fix. So I'd suggest just get in there and generate a rom. You might be waiting a while otherwise :)

This is my first SM kernel. I was ok with the 8% loss overnight the first night (I keep Wifi on) but I lost a lot during the day. It feels to me like the battery isn't as good as what I got from Trasig's kernel.

Wifi was off during the day, and mobile data was on. I don't feel my use was any different to normal.

For all that, I think I'm going to go back to a JPY rom. I can't put my finger on it, but JPY just seemed better to me, not that there's anything wrong with JS3. I've always felt right from the beginning JPY was better.

Same here.
I had 0% loss overnight with flight mode on (the way it should be).

Have been out all day on 3G and am currently at 90%.
My only real gripe is with the brightness doing some odd fluctuating at times. I was playing some Angry Birds and it was dipping and then going bright at random intervals.

For all that, I think I'm going to go back to a JPY rom. I can't put my finger on it, but JPY just seemed better to me, not that there's anything wrong with JS3. I've always felt right from the beginning JPY was better.

The last too roms I've flashed have been JS3 and I have found my wifi and 3G has been weaker compared to when I was on JPY-based roms. Both had different modems so I'm not sure I can blame the modems.

I bought an oem battery to see if that is where my constant battery woes lie. waiting for it to be delivered from the US. I really want one of the 1650mah batteries that come stock with the Vibrant 4g, Galaxy SL and Giorgio Armani Galaxy S.

Arrghhh, you made me upgrade to K12U, one whole letter from T! :p

Edit: I did chuck on the recommended tweaks in Speedmod advanced features and it made reallly smooth. Still no lagfix and happy

I was in such a hurry to heap praise on K12u that I forgot to mention I also also used GPS/3G via CardioTrainer (great wee app!) when I went for a walk.

So yes, very impressed. . . . .From reading the XDA boards on the various kernels, it seems Hardcore has definitely gone for stability over raw speed; I suspect that's why it's possible to get higher Quadrant speeds with other ROM's/kernels. . . (I usually average around 1300)

Anyone know if there's a compelling reason to move from JPU to JPY? In my "it ain't broke" wisdom, I was thinking of waiting until Gingerbread hit before upgrading, but that may be a long way off or even never, so I thought I'd get some input anyway.

You do realise JPU was so long ago that many of us probably don't even remember it. I can't remember JPU. I like JPY though :)

Nearly 80% of people in that poll said JPY, I can't comment considering I've only used JPY but its probably more a personal choice eg If you think your phone is slow and is frustrating you go for it, but if your happy well that's different. I've used Criskelos JPY which I think was nearly stock and a Darkys JPY, both where fine with no problems, but obviously Darkys rom had the "edge". JS3 is good too with is being recommended in the Rom Kitchen and used in Darkys latest. Some others will give you a better comparison, someone has to have used both!

Completely impossible to quantify the difference, but my nerd-ometer quite clearly indicates that JS3 is smoother and faster than a cheetah dipped in gravy.

I think it's a lot of little refinements and tweaks rather than any one massive change. But there's no question my SGS is now the best it's ever been.
