ajobbins:langers1972: New Zealand has a total population that's smaller than most capital cities in the developed world so why on earth do so many Kiwis struggle to grasp that on a world stage it's largely irrelevant?
There is absolutely no driver to enter a market where 100% saturation leads to total sales of just over 4m it's schoolboy economics, especially in the tech sphere.
Same reason Apple has largely stayed out of NZ (Still no official Apple stores, right?).
For quite a while Vodafone was the only NZ carrier to get the iPhone, and that was only because they were able to leverage their global brand. It wasn't until the popularity of iPhone really took off they bothered with Telecom (who didn't have a global brand to piggy back off).
And IKEA, Gap, etc etc.
Funnily enough the fast food giants all seem to find ample profits here :-)
