timmmay: It looks like you can order a global GSM version for US$199/NZ$240, shippping on 2nd December, compared with GBP169/$322 from Amazon UK shipping 12 December. Seems like a no-brainer to cancel the UK order and get it from the US, probably via Youshop.

I should get the Global GSM version right? Specs here. Not sure what network It'll be used on, either Vodafone or Telecom.

Global GSM Model: GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz)
US GSM Model: GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps (850, 1700 (AWS), 1900 MHz)
CDMA Model: CDMA/EVDO Rev A (850, 1900 MHz)

Definitely get the Global GSM version if you're planning on using it with Vodafone, 900MHz 3G makes a big difference. :)

Someone checked the UK model specs and said it was compatible - see page 1 of the thread.

I just double checked and Amazon UK will ship direct, total cost for the 16GB model is GBP$155/NZ$306. My current order is via youshop as I didn't want to risk the status changing to "sorry we won't ship to NZ". From the US it'd probably $280 including shipping via YouShop, but it would be more likely to arrive before Xmas.

I think I'll switch to the US site, international GSM model, via youshop US.

Unfortunately you seem to need a US credit card billing address to order from their US store.

The order email also said "We expect your phone to ship starting the week of 12/2/2013. ". It was cancelled though, probably because the credit card billing address was incorrect.

I might as well keep the order at amazon uk. Unsure if I should keep my existing order going via youshop UK or cancel it and place one to come direct? Anyone know if amazon uk will typically ship phones to NZ?

I hadn't estimated Youshop UK postage.

I cancelled my previous Amazon UK order and placed another one for shipping direct to NZ, as changing the delivery address wouldn't work (internal error). Total cost GBP155/NZ$310 including 2-3 day courier. It should arrive mid December. Fingers crossed it actually ships to NZ, otherwise I'll place via Youshop UK and wait a bit longer.

I'm guessing warranty issues might be slightly easier to sort via amazon if they direct ship, though I have no experience as such.

Not all fones need to be LTE capable. Even Verizon in the US that has a policy that all new devices have to be LTE are taking this one as CDMA only..

If it ships 2 Dec (or even 12 Dec) it has a good chance. Time to get from youshop to my place is often in the 6-10 day range, though at Christmas it will be busy.

My amazon.co.uk order says it should arrive between 13th and 16th December. It costs slightly more than the US, but not much. Hopefully it's the international version that does 900MHz 3G, but if not, oh well. The person who'll be using it may use some data, but not heaps.

I see that the 16Gig model on Amazon UK is now gone up to £159.99. Don't see anything that that includes shipping to NZ..
