VodafoneDylan:kontonnz: fast charging is great and all; but at the end of the day lithium based batteries have a life time and at the end of that life time you either replace the battery or replace the device; when I spend over $1k on something i expect to be able to extend its lifetime and not have to "replace" it every couple of years or be forced to replace it; that's the prob with these batteries that can't be removed
I think the argument is it allows manufacturers to have a larger battery if they don't need a removal mechanism, and a more robust device if the backplate is more than just clipped on. I would guess they might be looking at the number of phones sold, the number of replacement batteries sold, and conclude that it's not an issue for the huge majority of people.
In our new Christchurch building apparently there will be wireless chargers built into the desks.
you right there, they look at the bigger picture say bout 20- 30% of us want bigger batteries....unfortunately we get the chop.
its only matter of time before fast charging be on every device, replacement batteries be a thing of the pass
