I've read more bad reviews than positive ones so far.

Looks like the camera still needs a bit of work, which is no surprise from HTC.

Wonder when Samsung's going to release Samsung Pay in NZ. I would definitely go for S7e then without any hesitation.

Good effort from HTC, but I agree with Engadget's review. They should have released this phone a year earlier..

There is a thread on XDA with people that have taken photos with an updated camera software and the results are impressive. Seems a lot of sites jumped the gun with their reviews as HTC have been releasing updates almost daily since announcement to better improve the camera.

The thought of an unlocked bootloader still covered under warranty is an enticing one.

@Kopkiwi - I do not understand why a major company like HTC does not test their product before release.

Once the bad reviews are out there, it will stay there forever.

No argument there mate. HTC seem to be worse than others when it comes to this. Never hear of Samsung having this issue. Sony too seem to be bad at it and like HTC it always seems to be the camera. Why do these companies not nail down their processing software for something that is fast becoming a deciding factor given other specs are so close now.

Sounds like HTC have really improved the camera over the last week, couple of big updates have been sent out.

The last couple of phones I've had have been HTC and I've liked them a lot, but I think it's finally time to upgrade the One M7 so I really want this phone to be great. Reviews I have read have been mixed, but mostly positive with a hint of caution.

PB Tech have just emailed me to say they are the first in NZ to have the 10. However they are not showing stock at any branch so I assume they mean they are available for preorder from them. $1198 including gst.

I was looking forward to upgrading from my M7. $1200 is a bit steep for me :(

I would say the PB Tech price is testing the waters. I believe it will quickly become $1098 at other retailers, then less 20% in the QBday sales making it $880. That is certainly the pattern in previous years.

Not sure why everyone is acting surprised about the pricing. Doesn't matter what brand it is, HTC, Samsung, Apple or Huawei. New flagships will be that price at noel leeming or other stores. But after a few weeks they will drop to 900 at import shops. The note 5 isstill being sold for 1300 at noel leeming for God's sake ??

I think HTC should have released this at least $100-$150 cheaper than Galaxy s7.

It's not that HTC10 can't compete with S7, but just to boost the sales.

HTC is really in a bad place right now. Last quarterly result has been the worst we've seen..

The market is tougher than ever with Samsung but also Huwei.

I'm afraid Huwei will take much of HTC's global share with their P9..
