PB Tech tweeted this morning...

GOOD NEWS! We will absolutely be getting in Pixel 2 & LG V30. ETA + deets TBC as we're working on getting you all the best price possible

edit: the tweet above was pinned on the 19th October but this was posted this morning (3rd Nov)

Few updates on these much-awaited phones: LG V30 info coming VERY soon. Still trying to source Pixel 2 for a good price for the people. 👍

Haha yes, pleased to confirm we will be ranging the LG V30!

Pretty excited to go hands on when our marketing sample arrives - this is local stock and will be dual SIM just like the G6. Exact ETA and RRP TBC.

Read this morning that the Oreo beta is going live for Korean V30 owners and global rollout is scheduled for December, so that's very nice.

Hopefully have some photos and impressions for everyone next week.

Thanks @Nikt! If you are needing any volunteers to help test drive it, I'll put my hand up hahaha (cheeky but got to ask sealed).

I see that LG have confirmed the 16th of November for release via JB Hi Fi Australia. Should we expect a similar timeframe in NZ? wink

I was in Hong Kong last week and while I didn't see a real V30, there were replica/dummy devices on display at several shops so I was able to compare the size of my V20 with the V30 shape design.

I have to admit the V30 is a very nice evolution. Dropping the second screen does reduce the length of the device, so it'll fit nicer in pockets. It's a better all round size for the average person.

The shape and feel of the device with the glass back is very nice. It's a shame I didn't have time to find a running device to see what the screen was like.

Having read up about the V30 enhancements to the wide angle lens (less fish eye curvature effect) and the reports that the device has really good battery life, I'm tempted to get one even though my V20 is fine. :-)

I'd be interested in a second hand V20 at the right price.

Feel free to PM me if you do want to sell the V20 one day

I am keen to change from iPhone 6 to V30+.

Also keeping an eye on Pixel XL. But at this stage leaning more towards the V30.

Some negative online reviews on the V30 display and camera (front facing) are messing with my mind.

Up exactly that. Pay 1-2000 for a phone and they always leave out something. Always.

ya, it would be a super phone combining the best features of Galaxy Note 8, V30 and Pixel.

I am leaving Apple, not preparing to fork out the asking $ for iPhone X.

Any speculations on the announcement for the V30 on Friday might be?

Can’t wait to show you guys the promo we’ve been working on. No spoilers, but I will say it’s immensely satisfying to put together an offer I’d gladly take up myself.

LG have been kind enough to send us a unit, so any questions, fire away.

Battery life? How's the screen look? Any trace of screen discolouration issues that were seen when it was first released? Will you be bringing in accessories like cases, screen protectors, wireless fast chargers and if so when?

Ohh I could ask so many questions, but the boss expects me to work not be mucking around in forums..Damn him smile

Opps, forgot to add...Thanks in advance

Battery life is shockingly good so far. New phone to be fair, but I've loaded it up with my usual app/data suite including Exchange and it belts through a full workday and evening with ease, even when using the Quad DAC for extended periods (I like the Quad DAC very much, it can merrily power extremely demanding headphones like the Sennheiser HD650). I've yet to go to bed with below 40% left, although it is to be fair not my primary device. The Snapdragon 835 impressed me on the OnePlus 5 so I'd expect an even better performance here with newer drivers et cetera. The only phone I have ever actually gotten two days out of

Screen I like a lot, much more than I was expecting to given the brouhaha around the Pixel 2 XL. There's a full range of customisation options for screen colour, including preset modes for movies/photos/web browsing + an option to set your preferred screen resolution as 720p/1080p/1440p. Given the S8 series comes as 1080p by default, I've set my V30 to that too, as outside of Daydream VR I'm happy with 1080p over 6". Have set a custom colour temperature I'm very pleased with. Loads of options for the always-on display too, including a nifty half-red clock I'm fond of.

Yes, accessories are a go. V30 uses Qi wireless charging so is cross-compatible with everything that charges iPhone 8/X and Galaxy S. Cases are on the way. Screen protectors TBC as curved screens are a real pain to get right.

The 6" 18:9 form factor is what I was most keen to experience given it'll be used for a large number of devices going forward as an effective replacement for 5.5", e.g. Pixel 2 XL, OP5T, HTC U11+, OPPO R11s. It's a great form factor and the little extra bit of width makes it much more comfortable for my usage than the S8+ was.
