d3Xt3r: Am I the only one disappointed with the Pixel 2's specs? No headphone jack and still stuck on just 4GB RAM.

The RAM I don't mind - the current Pixel range has 4gb of RAM and they perform just fine with it.

The headphones though, yea, that craps me off something major.  The BT stack in the original Pixel is so terrible - it stutters and jutters and drops audio.  It's a problem that everyone suffers, non-XL Pixel or XL.  They better have gotten that sorted out if that's the only way (or an adaptor, lol) to listen to music now.

Pretty keen on a XL 2, although I highly suspect Google will again, choose not to sell this directly in New Zealand.

That's kind of a deal-breaker for me, as my 128GB XL completely died a few weeks ago, and is currently in a long, painful service and repair with the retailer (Mighty Ape). No advanced RMA sucks, especially for what I paid ($1650)..

IIRC the Nexus 6P was bought into New Zealand because 2 Degrees Mobile stepped up and made it possible. In the case of the Pixel 2 I'm surprised and frustrated that one of the carriers haven't jumped up and taken advantage such as Vodafone given how Nokia is an exclusive with Spark and bringing in the Pixel 2 by Vodafone would be a point of differentiation - maybe work with Google and have Vodafone exclusives for Vodafone customers such as more Google Drive storage etc. I mean, if you're going to hitch your wagon to something you might as well hitch it to a winner such as Google rather than a dud such as what Spark did with Yahoo/Bebo/etc.

The 6P wasn't priced at face melting prices though.

I've tried ordering a Pixel 2 from the US store but run into multiple issues getting around paying for it. Their shop won't accept virtual credit cards etc :-(

Has anyone else tried to do this and succeeded? Or have any other bright ideas?

Cheers, Tim

I see the Pixel 2 has an e-sim option and a nano sim port. Do you think we'll be able to use them in a dual sim configuration?

I'm in the same boat, I've tried a credit card, a debit card, changing address, set up different payment profiles, etc and still no luck. I suspect you'd have to have an america issued card to get it to work. Anyone know any buy on your behalf kinda service?

This following article earlier this year seem to suggest it should be pretty painless ordering from outside of US and using a non-US card.

Google virtual credit card... I believe such a service does exist for a fee.

Ive just ordered a google mini home on the US store to my shipito address with an NZ issued ASB visa card, not really wanting to splash out on a phone at the moment to try that out.

Unfortunately Google specifically say that they won't accept Virtual Credit Cards. I'm not sure how they know this but I can't be arsed going through the process to find out.

Ship2U offer a Purchase On Behalf and Ship service called Assisted Buy but they want 12% for the privilege.

So it went through quite happily despite your credit card address being NZ and your Shipto address being US?

('cos I tried multiple ways to get around this)

Yup. Order accepted, free shipping to Oregon with the NZ card on my NZ google account with an NZ billing address entered on the card part. I have never ordered on this google account from anywhere before so perhaps if you have an order history or bought on the play store or something it sets a country flag that breaks it?

How about trying it again with a Pixel 2 and see if you get to the point of paying for it? I'll buy it off you if you get it through :-)

once I have the card cleared off I can give it a shot, but it would decline at the moment.
