Viber: The beta we will make public very soon is Android's beta version specifically.
Sorry if I was unclear with my announcement.

If we launch a new Beta project with a different device - I'll make sure to let you know of it.

Sorry, I meant more Android devices. Or am I a little bit behind the times and that is already the case?
My mum has an HTC Wildfire and I'd like to get Viber on her handset.

HTC Wildfire is quite an old device, with many internal problems.
Viber *might* support it to some extent, but we have unfortunately come to a decision here in the company to stop providing support and bug-fixes for it, as the market is getting rid of it as a whole.

Most devices holding Android OS, let alone the famous ones (galaxy, HTC HD, Nexus, Milestone...) all work with Viber fine.

Thanks. I agree its an older device and is not worth focusing attention on. Still, I will try it and if its functional enough, I'll happily let her use it.

I received the following email yesterday.

Join the "Viber for Android" private beta!
We are happy to present the first private beta version of Viber for Android......

I filled in the form and then ended up with

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Viber for Android tester. We truly appreciate it!
We are releasing invitations to the beta program on a "first come, first serve" basis.

I thought the email was an invite to the beta, yet when I download the app from www.viber.com/download and enter the phone number I entered in the form from the email it says its in beta and I cant use it.

Can anyone explain the problem here? I filled in the join the beta form a few weeks/months ago

I got the installation invite email, but it kept going around in a loop asking me to register for the beta (which I'd presumably already done judging by the email I'd received) rather than giving me a link.

Yes, we are aware of the problems with yesterday's invitations.

We are currently working to find the source of the problem, but our focus is on the real solution for the problem - releasing a public version of the Beta very VERY soon (could also be a few days).

We ask for your last bit of patience, and then it will finally appear in Market! :)

Hi everyone,

I'm excited to announce that our Beta version of Viber-for-Android is FINALLY public, and now appears in Market for all to download!
The version itself is slightly more updated than the previous one (mostly bug fixes), so we highly recommend everyone to download and install it.

Important: those of you who were testing our Beta (after getting the invitations) will have to uninstall Viber, and only then install the Market version. Thank you!

As usual, I'll be here for your questions, suggestions, bug reports or anything else really :)

Thanks,
Viber.

Thanks. Do you know if/how we can backup our history?

Unfortunately not.
It is a feature we plan to include in the future, but for now reinstalling means losing history :(

What if I have a rooted phone? Is there a file I can export?

As a company rep, I can't guide or recommend it to you, as it's quite complex and requires some steps that we could not vouch for.
