That news is UK :(
Going to call BP again.

Sorry my bad! But if the previous poster is correct in saying that NL has a shipment allocated to them then there is something not quite right because..

BP said there is none and NL headoffice confirmed that.

Oh well, I guess we will see in a week, I don't see the point of the guy going through the pantomime of making a call and making me wait for a BS reply, but who knows...

I guess I'm just not that desperate, and even if I get the 16GB unit for $900, it's still a better deal than I can get anywhere else, apart from online, which I'll never do again.

Supprisingly Vodafone is the importer and BrightPoint is their shipping and warehouse middle-man.

So it could be that Vodafone is trying to sell as many 16GB as possible then release teh 32GB to get more contracts once the hype died down.

Yes that's what the guy who used to work for VF is saying.. because that is how they normally launch a new product i.e release 16GB and make sure their customers buy the heck out of it.. then they release the 32GB to the market. And this is the same thing they did with iPhone 16/32 iPhone S or whatever the model was. Otherwise they lose out..

Basic marketing tactic.. by doing this they penetrate the market more and create supply/demand. Once it hits.. all the crazy people go crazy buy the 32GB..

A dirty boot tactic from Vodafone. Starving the market isn't always a good thing. Beside, holding the 32GB stock is just too dirty marketing. People who preordered the phone should get the privillege of getting it before their stupid announcement and it has already been 43 days since the 16GB is launched. Holding it for a few weeks is fine but holding it for a few months is not fine. This is why I hate buying stuff from locally. They are usually selling over price and playing with the market demand.

I feel like burning their sale and marketing CEO for this lol.

Yes.. thats how they make more $$. I don't think this will be released next week but well see what VF does, because VF controls BP and hence if VF says don't release it next week then BP won't ship jack to JB/HN.. so they control the game. I **think** once they announce it that it has been released then HN/JB would start selling it..

So whom should we call? 777 is useless as they are clueless.

I'll try and find out from the guy who used to work for VF. I have been bugging him all day but he said he hasnt got an answer yet..but hey I could be wrong but from his previous exp thats how it's done. i.e they release one product then they create a lot of demand for it by starving the market then they release the next one.. You could try http://www.vodafone.co.nz and try their chat to a sales rep? I cant find that link..they have a head office in Viaduct Auckland not sure how to get their number though..

talked to my friend who works in the retail side of things for Vodafone and he has confirmed with me about 10 minutes ago that so far as of this day, Vodafone has no intention of selling 32GB, nor has there been any ordered for any Vodafone store. He was speaking to me as a friend not a sales...

So... Does that mean we should all opt to PI for 32GB? or wait for JB and HN to bring them in?

To be honest, I wouldnt buy from PI, wait for JB and HN first of course....

I suspect that JB and HN are getting their stock from over in Australia...as both of these retailers also operate in Australia...therefore the firmware/ROM would be of different variant to New Zealand designated units...not a major as it can be changed...

NL on the other hand do not operate anywhere else expect New Zealand, as a result while they advertised and took orders for the 32GB variant, they probably were not able and are still unable to source any 32GB variants...thus the "no eta" we keep getting from them...

Looks like my mate was right regarding VF's tactics.. guess I might just settle for a 16GB from NL and get a free Micro SD out of it..looks like my wait is over!
