When you drive to the distribution centre would you mind going via Dick Smith and begging for mine too. :)

I wonder how long it will be before the phones appear on the Warehouse daily deal site again, it looked like they have quite a few left just before 10am Sunday.

Yes I was surprised, but then sold at full RRP isn't really TWH normal behaviour. I couldn't wait so I bit the bullet, I presume all the phones on offer were the same physical device just with a bundled sim card?

The Telecom Galaxy 4s at TWH had a set of headphones bundled, the 2 Degrees ones didn't.  I'm not sure why they felt the need to offer a sweetener with the Telecom units.  They both had the relevant free SIM.

DSE had (and still have) a "highish" spec Plantronics bluetooth headset with their units but don't seem to include a SIM.  I will be attempting to sell the headset as soon as it arrives. :)

And after they say no you'll get home to find a card to call from the courier and curl up into a ball and cry.

That is better than the newer Murphy's second law which states: "Your much awaited toy will be delivered and signed for but not to your house and not by you" Cry

The worst one is Murphy's third law which is "Dick Smith could not organise a sale on an e-commerce site".

I looked up my order a few minutes ago and it is now showing as "back ordered".  Their website is still proudly proclaiming that the phone is available.

I rang to check and it seems that they have messed up big time.  I should have just ordered it from the Warehouse to start with.  They have 10 phones coming in today but don't know if one of those will be for me.

If it isn't shipped by Wednesday I'll be cancelling the order and spending the $1149 on wine, women and song Cool

dude ... this is a newly released product whose specs aren't even completely known - not a booking for a five star hotel

I don't mind that I don't have the phone.  What is annoying me is that Dick Smith are advertising a product as being in stock when it is not.

If I had known they had no stock I would have bought it from The Warehouse.  It is not rocket science to have stock levels on an e-commerce site, it is basic functionality.

They are either incompetent or acting illegally.  My feeling is that it is the former.

Definitely a "first world problem". Tongue Out

I didn't see that option when I ordered mine!!

My new phone was delivered this morning and is with my neighbour in Auckland while I'm in Wellington all week. Still I shouldn't have believed VodafoneNZ when they said that I would have the phone on Saturday... Probably meant next Saturday!!!!

Question for the guys who have a handset already..
Is the silver border that runs around the edge of the phone actually aluminium that it looks like or is it plastic as well?

Going to be my first Galaxy phone, I think it makes the phone look very sleek along with its more flat chassis

It is plastic

Hopefully it doesn't chip because it will stick out on the trim (thinking of the fake aluminum on the grill of my car)

on the bottom right hand corner of mine is a join which makes me think it is metal, if it was plastic wouldn't it be one solid molding with no join?

also a pic on S4 next to One X because I know some people like to see size comparisons

I will try and dig up the review that made comment of it - but they said it was a point in regards to being careful with it
