Shrapnel: Follow R2D2s reply, it is about a million times more detailed than mine :p

But is mine correct? Hmmm...

Hey all, just wondering out there if any of you have had or getting this small problem.

Phone has started randomly bringing up the notification USB Connected & USB Debugging Connected when I don't actually have it connected to USB.  Doing a quick search seems a few others might have had the same problem and have ended up sending it back to samsung to be checked.  Its doing a couple of other funny things to while that issue is happening and I power off it actually just reboots.  If I pull the battery it will sometimes boot as soon as I put the battery in

About to do a factory reset or whatever its called in recovery then a wipe install again see if that may fix it, hoping like made its not faulty hardware otherwise it means I have to source the orig voda NZ firmware that came with the phone(bought from DSE) to send it back :(

Cheers

It could be some gunge has got into the USB socket and is semi-shorting out the pins. Try cleaning it out if you can, or just repeatedly plugging and unplugging a USB plug that isn't connected at the other end. Otherwise it's probably a hardware fault.

Has anyone tried the the Damian GTO Ultimate kernel from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959696    ?

It's apparently smoother and better response than the Speedmod and better battery life, I have just downloaded it myself but haven't flashed it just yet.

It doesn't have the sharpness enhancements found in Speedmod and is also missing BLN so don't think I will try it

BLN is quite handy to have so I don't need to switch on the screen to check for any txt or missed call etc.

I have flashed to it. finding the boot time and switching off time to be faster, and RAM availability is bumped up to 350MB from the 339/340MB on speedmod. It is smooth but can't tell if it is smoother than speedmod though.

I've got a new problem (or quirk).  Others have spoken about it on Doc's thread over the months but it hadn't affected me until just a week or so ago.

When I charge my phone the screen doesn't switch off after the pre-set 2 minutes.

Has anyone encountered this, and if it's bothered you, did you find a way to fix it?  I notice that it says "sleep policy" but I don't have the Wifi sleep policy set up (and checked it's not). I've not noticed that message before either.  Perhaps the two are related.

Download a program from the marget called "widgetsoid". It has a function for turning on and off the 'keep awake when plugged in' mode. Maybe that'll help you fix your problem.

It's also a pretty useful widegt in itself, lots of functions etc.

You could also try setting it to shut off after 1 minute - maybe that'll re-set whatever got stuffed up. Then put it back to 2 minutes.

I'm willing to bet that something had to be sacrificed to reach 350mb, in most kernels they sacrifice 720p recording so just watch out for that.

Thanks for the heads up lokhor, that's a good point, I will check if 720p video recording still works.

My Galaxy s had a 20cm fall on Saturday and landed on a slate floor on a sticky up bit of slate. The screen protector showed the point of impact (about a pin head) and the LCD screen cracked. Once I peeled the screen protector off the outer glass was completely undamaged.

So outside glass has awesome strength for impact and scratch but obviously still has enough movement in it to break the LCD's back :-(

The repair is costing $210 and will be ready Tuesday (very Fast)... hopefully
Fingers crossed it's a good repair

I miss my phone, my old Nokia 6121 is good but no match for the gs

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.
