To be honest, I wouldnt buy from PI, wait for JB and HN first of course....

I suspect that JB and HN are getting their stock from over in Australia...as both of these retailers also operate in Australia...therefore the firmware/ROM would be of different variant to New Zealand designated units...not a major as it can be changed...

NL on the other hand do not operate anywhere else expect New Zealand, as a result while they advertised and took orders for the 32GB variant, they probably were not able and are still unable to source any 32GB variants...thus the "no eta" we keep getting from them...

I'm going to get my refund back on Monday and go with HN order. Also with JB I am already on the queue.
So always trust the Aussie companies :D

talked to my friend who works in the retail side of things for Vodafone and he has confirmed with me about 10 minutes ago that so far as of this day, Vodafone has no intention of selling 32GB, nor has there been any ordered for any Vodafone store. He was speaking to me as a friend not a sales...

So... Does that mean we should all opt to PI for 32GB? or wait for JB and HN to bring them in?

I've rung back the usual suspects today (NL - different branches, JBHifi, Harvey Norman). I got mainly the same responses from JBHifi and Harvey Norman - the reps I called said they weren't even taking pre-orders for the 32GB variants and they do not plan to take any orders. Apart from one Harvey Norman branch (Botany branch AUCK), this young salesman - said he could put a pre-order down if I really insisted and told of the expected date of end of July for shipments.

Noel Leeming - Got told by many branches that they expect a shipment from varied dates 20/07/12 to 27/07/12. This was after I made them ring Brightpoint and Samsung to confirm... AGAIN...haha.  Same info from my previous attempt!

I'm going to stick it out till the end of July and if that don't happen I'm gonna go to the best retailer that stocks them. (If any will ever do by August) and my last resort will be to go to Parallel Import to get the 32GB.

So at the moment, from my perspective - I am leaning towards that no-one has any idea (including HN and JBHifi) on the status of these stock. Looks like until they physically get the shipments, everyone's guessing. 20th July and onwards is my last grasp of hope! To the end of July folks!

Here is another tip to save $7 Ha Ha. When you get your S3 32GB, you need to upgrade your Sim to MicroSim. And if it's VF get a Welcome Pack Micro Sim which is $13, otherwise you would need to pay $20 ha ha. And you guys are right about VF, VF has no plan whatsoever to release the 32GB!

I've been prepared since June.
I rung BrightPoint again and pretending to be a Retailer asking for Info. BrightPoint CS (She) told me that 20th July is the ETA from Samsung.

And the wait continues, PI's order fell through. They said they ordered but supplier has not been able to source any, hoping for some next week.

Wonder if same goes for the like of HN and NL.

Let's hope Samsung take NZ Retailers over the PI retailer in their priority queue. Best is to just wait and see for 23rd July to be sure.

I'm going to call back on the 20th for final confirmation with BrightPoint to see if the shipment that Samsung promised is true. Then will rushing out to get my S3 32GB from one of the allocated retailer.

Don't give up yet guys. Save every last breathe for the judgement day.

I am pretty adamant that the source of PI and other retailers differ (especially HN and JB)...

HN and JB in this particular case, looks to be sourcing the phones from their Australian branch stock (in small numbers for the 32GB pre-orders only), this will mean that the phone will be most likely to be Australian firmware/ROM but the phone is still sourced through legit distributor or Samsung/BrightPoint equivalent that is based in Australia...

PI and other parallel importers as such may source their phones from just about anywhere that offers them the cheapest price which is most likely to come from either Hong Kong or Singapore, usually from their grey markets, thus allowing them to usually price their goods at a considerably lower cost than your typical large retailer...this leaves quite a bit of tolerance of factors...they may say that the shipment didnt fall through because there of many circumstances that they generally dont tell their customers...either there was a higher bid on this particular shipment of stock, currency exchange was not favorable at the point in time, issues/faults with units on arrival, their source F'ed up...

There are the associated risks with parallel imported phones mostly because New Zealand retailer/distributor/service agent will not cover any sort of warranty, as a result all potential issues/faults will have to be referred back to the parallel importer, and the unfortunately truth is that their aftercare service is never as good as New Zealand backed warranty
