I've made this account with the hope that someone can help me getting a nexus 4. It seems you are all having the same problems I just had. I am heading to the uk soon for a holiday and I got a mate to order a nexus for me with my credit card to pick up when I get there. It got cancelled, and reading the terms and conditions leads me to believe you must have a credit card that belongs to the country of purchase, or whatever.

So my mate has a debit card he can loan me the money with. My question is how difficult would it be to use his account to purchase the phone, then switch it to mine as soon as I arrive and pick it up? My mate is worried that I'll be running around with his card details as the default for the phone. Considering the lengths google is going to to prevent outside purchase, I have to admit I am a little worried.

Theoretically, the rest should work though, right? Just get him to order the phone as himself and then I can pick it up and bring it home. I'd like to use it straight away overseas but that might be asking a bit much?

The CC is attached to whatever Google account you log into when you turn the phone on.
Won't be your mates unless you log into his account!

Hi Darth Dutch,

I think from memory you can elect to not connect it to your account when you go through with the purchase.

Everything else works OK I believe but I'm not sure about the wallet. There was some discussion about wallet earlier in this thread but I'm not sure about what or if it works OK in nz.

Sweet, so my mate buys it but the phone is not linked to his account? Meaning I can pick it up like it's a new phone from the store?

Sounds pretty good. Any problem using it straight away overseas? Or is this whole living in New Zealand thing going to screw me over there too?

So long as it isn't locked to a network and I don't think it would be. If it was purchased through Google play it won't be locked

I've had something interesting happen. I can't view the US store on my Google account over VPN. Created a new account over VPN removed my card from current Google wallet added it to my new account with US address.

Have tried to do a purchase for 3 days and the orders were cancelled straight away.

Today I get an email on my main Google account saying that my Google wallet account has been suspended due to suspicious activity.

I have to verify my identity with scans of a passport/drivers licence and a statement with an address on it to get it unlocked.

Weird...

My mate got the same thing when he attempted to order for me. I'm considering giving up and hoping for prices to drop soon on the nexus 4 or get an S3 if the price drops on that to coincide with the S4 release.

Pretty hacked off though. I was all excited about it.

It seems that lots of people are having problems recently with cancellations coming after the authorisation hold has occurred so a day or two after ordering. (Which compares to the past where the problems usually only came about during the authorisation hold and so happened quite fast.)

As I mentioned in the older thread, in December I had problems with ASB Mastercard CC even after changing address and several attempts (I ended up getting my card and accounts blocked), but ASB Visa CC seemed to work (never actually completed order but order seemed to be fine) without changing address and ASB Visa debit card also worked without changing address.

Has anyone had success ordering since early April to now and what did they use?

Sorry but no.  I have tried ASB Visa and ASB Debit card but each and every time cancelled.  And yes I had changed the address.  In fact nothing had changed in my setup since having a successful order about 6 or 7 weeks ago Frown  bought one from Ebay

Have brought one for my Wife and it's been shipped. Here's how I did it.

Used free vpn to get an us ip address.
Set up a new gmail account, and linked it to a work email address.
Used youshop address as billing and shipping address, without the id in the name field (id is still in address line 2)
Ordered one.
Canceled it less than an hour later.
Waited a day.
Ordered one, and it's just shipped.

Didn't change my cc account billing address. CC is a BNZ visa.

Why do you think that worked?

No idea,
Perhaps because I didn't have my number in the name field (as youshop lets you leave it out as long as it is in line 2 or 3)?
Don't think it is because I canceled it.
The work email ends in .com, but, that shouldn't be used to define it.
