I did read on XDA that 171 was not signed by google (or something along those lines) and people were having an issue with it.  They were waiting for an update to get it working again.

not signed? that would do it....

Very poor experience if that's the case though...

There is apparently a 187 version now which fixed the Google Pay issue. What I don't understand is no one here has got the 171 update apart from me and I am not sure if I ever will get any further updates as I am not overseas anytime soon.

My phone has a green screen issue, I will probably end up swapping it with new one soon and get over this issue.

It seems to depend on Sim and country when they rollout.
With mine 2degrees Sim didn't supply updates but as soon as Vodafone Sim was in sim1 try I got an update

Got my phone replaced today (green LG screen issue) with a BOE screen device and the Google Pay is back working now. Will stay away from updating the phone when overseas from now on.

Hello,  it seems I have the exact same problem as you did.

I was travelled to HK, Philippines, Fiji, the past few weeks and I'm pretty sure I got an update while I was there.

Now I've got 9.0.0.171 and I'm getting a failed CTS Profile Match.

I will wait for the next update to come through now but if it doesn't fix it, I might exchange it for a new one through 2Degrees.

Were you using SIM cards in those countries? I believe I had an update in HK when I was using local sim there.

The problem you will possibly have is that you are now in advanced numbered version, so unless 2degrees release another update and pushes it, you will be stuck with that.

Yep definitely had a foreign SIM card sitting as a second sim card.

Bugger.  Will wait for a major update but if it takes too long, I'm sure 2degrees will understand and exchange so long as I word it right (and hopefully speak to someone who understands the issue).

I tried to like this phone, but I formatted it and will be returning to PBtech. The fact the security features don’t work is enough to ignite CGA return mode. The photos were great, some of the google centric integration was ok, and the that was about all that I can remember enjoying.

I found the face recognition almost unusable - it unlocked maybe 30% of the time at best, and only when I was looking in a seemingly unrepeatable position.

The fingerprint reader was vaguely better, but still at most 50% reliable.

It kept turning off LastPass auto fill. Unsure why.

The Gesture navigation was poor, often needing 4-5 swipes to go Back.

The edge of the screen was green.

Signing in to chrome proved way too difficult - I have 2fa enabled and every time I switched from chrome to Authy and back, chrome would restart the sign in process. Wtf.

The UI is horrid, mainly because its scaled down icons and in app images would often looked aliased and pixelated around the edges.

Huawei kept asking for access to EVERYTHING whenever I accidentally activated one of its features.

I really wanted this to be the phone that got me off iOS, but it was far from it.

It also keeps deleting my BYO ring tone (phone and sms) by itself. It's deleted them repeatedly.

I understand your frustrations, but I'd be surprised if they will be sufficient to warrant a CGA claim - I will be interested to find out how you get on.

There's an option that requires you to look at the camera for it unlock. Uncheck that and it will recognise the face even if you are not looking at it. The recognition rates will go up.

Use more than one finger for authentication but if you do the previous tip then you won't need it as much.

Make sure to add LastPass to the power management exception list and make sure the service is running in Settings | Accessibility options.

@nzskater: The edge of the screen was green.

This was discussed at length in the last few pages - your handset can be replaced for a model with different screen.

This is a Chrome thing. Change to Opera - it is a much better browser on mobile.

@nzskater: The UI is horrid, mainly because its scaled down icons and in app images would often looked aliased and pixelated around the edges.

Not seeing this.

I wonder what made your phone so bad (by your description).

The face recognition software on this is so good. I was expecting to have a stare contest with this phone but it's been the opposite. Sometimes when my son borrows the phone, I don't even turn to the phone when he unlocks it. He just puts it in front of me, maybe almost 2 feet away, at an angle, I don't even look at the camera, and it unlocks. It's amazing.

Finger print scanner with a screen protector is dumb so I just YOLO no protector it.

If everything looks aliased, you may also want to check if the resolution is set it to Smart. So it's really high res when you've got enough juice but it drops to low when you're running low.

I have to admit, I'm not as happy with the Mate 20 as i hoped i would have been.

Photos and Videos are amazing though..

My biggest issues are...

1. Power management - my V20 still out preforms in simply serving notificaiton... never-mind actually multitasking(which it does well).

2. LTE modem performance - now that 2CA is fixed, it's not a user experience issue, but no more than 2CA...

3. Lack of Fieldtest mode.

I am happy with mine except for the notifications part. I only see SMS notifications on a locked screen display and nothing else.
