Neets: Many people have spoken of ordering from Clove and Mobicity.  I recall when orders were placed for the original SGS people were also ordering from Unlocked Mobiles.  Not this time though, just wondering why, or if there's a deliberate avoidance for a reason.

I got my SGS from there with no problems. However I think so others had issues with orders not being successful due to credit card type checks or something?

If you search the SGS thread you'll find the comments from those that had issues. As I said, no issues for me however.

Spong: Customs actually called me back! They've been impossible to get through to since yesterday morning.

They gave me the customs entry number.  GST was calculated at 2.30am yesterday. I then called 0800 388437 to make the payment with CC and it's now clear for dispatch. Apparently the volumes of mail are huge at present. The customs guy said he'd had quite a few other SGSIIs just before mine. Cost of the GST and import transaction fee combined was $175.62.

Thats exactly the same as mine, did you buy just the phone or get a case/pouch? I ordered a pouch on my order but if yours is exactly the same gst wise then it makes me wonder if the pouch is been sent later.

How much is the customs charge excl GST?

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

I didn't make a careful note of the breakdown, but from memory it was $135 or just over in GST and that would make the remainder of the fee about $40.00.

Apparently this is a new fee they thought of a few months ago  according to the customs guy (maybe to buy drinks and nibbles on Friday afternoon). Interesting that the customs site states "An import transaction fee of $25.30 may apply and a biosecurity risk screening levy of $12.77 is also collected on behalf of MAF". I'm only surprised they haven't thought of additional fees they could charge. I guess there will be in time.

I only ordered the SGSII alone, but apparently they charge GST on the freight also, so that would be GBP440 + 24 = GBP464 and they use a rate of 0.48 making a dutiable amount of $966.66 x .15 = $144.99 so not sure why the GST was $135.00.

Hopefully I'll see it tomorrow or Thursday now. I can't wait.

BTW, I ordered 2x Samsung sync/charge docks from Clove last week before a whole heap of cheap ones turned up on ebay. Their site said stock was expected in 2 days, but soon after ordering, they came back to tell me they wouldn't be here until the end of May.

I asked them why their website continued to state they were a day away. They said "Sorry, sometimes suppliers let us down", I then cancelled, and sure enough, the docks turned up one day later than originally stated. Not ideal service, but at least I saved a packet by buying cheap and freight free from ebay (Hong Kong), complete with chargers.

That means I'll be getting mine 14 minutes sooner than you! I was going to wait until Im in the UK in july to get some accessories, was contemplating the extended battery case, and maybe some other stuff.

Mine arrived at 7.30am this morning. Oh joy. What a major upgrade on my LG P500, and surpasses the user experience of my old iPhone easily.

So far  it's everything I hoped it would be, and initial fears that I maybe one of the unlucky ones with dead pixels were unfounded.  (passes the *#0*# test with flying colours). What a pain I have so much else I have to do today.

Short answer, yes as it falls well within the 18 month window announced today, and ICS will be rolled out in Q4 this year.

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new

It arrived this morning at FedEx, cleared customs by noon so went over to pay the tax and collect it.
And oh joy....!

Hi guys, abit off topic but still has to do with the SGS2. Would anybody have any idea when some of the parallel importers will get them here in NZ? In general how long does it take after a device has been released? 1 month? 2 months?

Cheers
