Shrapnel: Has anyone seen these cases here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Mobile-phones/Accessories/Cases-protectors/Samsung/auction-366623102.htm

I was looking at buying a SGP screen protector but the case comes with one and are only $15 more...decisions!!!

I bought a couple of these off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HARD-RUBBER-CASE-COVER-SAMSUNG-i9000-GALAXY-S-/330475418824?pt=AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item4cf1deb4c8

Reasonably cheap, less than A$4, come from HKG. Good quality, fit well. Some of the sellers have free postage to NZ.

From memory I think someone else on here had recommended them.

There ya go, maybe it was your post I had seen recommending them....it was a while ago now.

Yes, I used it this morning. It was the same as usual. Now it's different.
Looks a bit cramped, might take a bit of getting used to.

What's the speed like reading/writing to SD card on these? Is there a noticable difference between card and internal memory?

I'd mostly have music on mine, but what about video playback?

Can play 720p mkv, xvid, mp4 with no issues. Doesnt matter if it's on the internal or external sd card. This is on a custom rom. My original firmware was killed pretty quickly and never tried movie playback on stock so have nothing really to compare against.

I have one of these hard rubber cases and I think its an excellent case - non-slip and very slim - like a good woman actually ;) One of the things I like about it is that it does not fully cover over the chrome edging strip around the screen like most of the gel cases do, so the phone still looks smart.

However the non-slip colour-coat (black in my case, excuse the pun) is only sprayed on to a white plastic base and where the GS rests on its tail-bulge, the black has worn off and the white substrate is showing through. Still reckon it's a good case though and at the price, you could throw it away every now and then and put a new one on. If you had a white one this would probably not be an issue.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

For those that have taken the plunged and flashed to GB 2.3, does it have native support for VoIP/SIP i.e. any built in SIP client etc? I managed to get open VFX to work on SIPDroid before, want to see if the SIP client would support authID etc when I do eventually flash to 2.3.

I had the exact same question. There is a lot missing from the early gingerbread builds and sadly, sips one of the missing.

It's funny you mention that case as I already have one just like it, I find it good in most situations but it does tend to catch dust a bit and needs to be taken off for a clean occasionally. What screen protectors are people using(if any)? I'm using a Momax one that I did a bad job of applying, it's starting to scratch and it's a good 5 months old so I need to replace it.

I have a black one of these. http://tiny.cc/8uruh

Had a black hard rubber one before this but the paint or whatever it is came off quickly. Also a lot of dust seemed to get into it.

Loving it so far. Very slick and rigid feeling and makes the phone look like it doesn't have a case on. Still looking great!

How does it fit on the front is it flush with the edges?

The sides have some of the silver thing showing while the top and bottom have small gaps which shows all of the silver. Hope that is what you were meaning?

Hey guys

I've read a lot of this thread but I'm overwhelmed by the amount of info so I'm hoping you can help me out.

Basically I would like to know 2 things:
1) I want to try a new ROM from http://romkitchen.org and I need a recommendation on what combination to use.
2) How to apply it to the phone.  Odin?

Current details:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy i9000 16Gb / I9000DXJPA
Model: GT-I9000
Network: Vodafone
CSC: I9000OLBJPA
Firmware: 2.2
Baseband: I9000DXJPA
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 root@SE-S604 #1
Build: FROYO.DXJPA

TIA
