Wow I stopped using JuiceDefender today and after less than 9hrs i'm at 10% :/ I'm pretty sure my SGS has worse battery life than anyone else.

I reckon we're way past "pretty sure" and deep into "absolutely certain". Laughing

I think you pegged your problem some posts back where you mentioned how much time you have your screen on. If I were you, I'd be researching some utility that reduces screen power draw, and if there isn't such a beast, pay somebody $50 to write something for you.

Or buy an SGS2 using the proceeds from your current SGS to offset the cost.

Whichever, I feel for you dude. Must be really horrible having the battery such a constant hassle, ruining the SGS experience in that way.

Good luck.

Cheers,
R2D2

True dat.  :D

The new Sammy handset has whet my appetite for dual core, more ram and storage, and the best screen in the business. But I've only had this phone for 6 months so I can't justify a new one yet. October, though, will be another matter entirely. And by then, the wrinkles will have been ironed out and roms aplenty will beckon. :D

Course, you're also right about the promise of the SGS3 lurking in the background...

It's a hard row finding the perfect phone mate. (Apologies to Speights)

Cheers,
R2D2

I've had mine since August last year. I got one of the first batches so maybe why I've always had battery troubles even with a new oem battery.

Unless I find an alternative source of income I won't be getting anything anytime soon.

Nah using my stock battery not the Momax one. I only have ~2hrs of screen usage over that 9hrs also.

So ready to take the plunge and go to 2.3 from 2.1. Is this even possible or do I have to go 2.1>2.2>2.3>

Have been researching and have read I need to flash stock JVB with GB bootloaders, but seems there isn't one available for i9000T variant? So how did some of you i9000T owners get onto GB? So confused :S

There's a new GB version out. I've been told you can go direct to GB, you don't have to take an intemediary step via Froyo.

Can't help with the i9000T sorry.

no need to go 2.1>2.2>2.3, and also no need to get i9000t specific firmware.

1) get stock JVB with bootloaders, and flash using Odin.
2) get CF-Root's gingerbread kernel and flash that to get CWM
3) flash your choice of JVB custom rom, id suggest SweetHoney as its been fast and flawless - use the WIPE version, and reset cache, dalvik, and factory reset
4) flash UGJL2 or UGKC1 modem, and once charged back to full battery, flush battery stats

done, turn on all animations, and u will be stoked

Like the sound of Sweethoney, might take a look at it tomorrow.

My battery drain on JVB is atrocious. Burning through a battery in a day pretty much, pulled it off the charger this morning, down to 13% now. Moderate use.

How you finding the new UGKC1 modem v UGJL2 ?

i too found JVB stock kernel as having big drain even on idle, big shock from the stability of JS8. swapped to DamianGTO's beta7, and drain idle dropped to like 1% per 6hours. huge difference. beta7 is rumoured to be more battery friendly than his GOLDv2.0. id recommend swapping kernels, then draining the phone flat, recharging to full while off, boot into recovery immediately, pull charger and reset battery stats, and you should be sorted

i dont get as much as froyo, but still 40+hours on medium use, i still set WIFI to sleep 'on screen off', i dont push email or autosync constantly, and disable background data, to get 40+hours. background data really sucks the battery also on GB for me. with sync, background on, etc, i get about 24-30hrs

KC1 works as well as JL2 but GPS looks like it works a bit faster. battery seems similar, doesnt "hunt" as much as other modems. not sure yet but JL2 is admittedly hard to beat despite its age!
