Just got my 2 degrees phone back from repair (if you can call it that) and put the battery back in connected to wifi and started doing the updates for the software on the phone and it just freezes.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt hold down the power button and restart the phone and the rest of the updates finish and I go to start installing the basic list of apps I use, installed beyondpod and then started Camscanner and it freezes again.

On the repair form is says UVF, Reflash FW, XELLA, reset settings, tested ok.
The only thing I don't know is what UVF means, but from that they have only done what I have already reseting the phone and flashing the latest 2degrees firmware.

Back to shop this afternoon to be sent off again it seams, will have to give the repairer some tips on testing devices e.g. try installing a few apps on it before you say its ok, turning it in is not a real test.

I've noticed that since getting my S3 repaired (after it got SDS) that notifications from Gmail about new email is a bit spotty.

Sometimes it notifies ok and other times it doesn't notify me about new messages at all. Also when I read a message on my PC it sometimes doesn't remove the notification for that message from my S3. At times like this I go into Gmail on my S3 and it shows the inbox with the old message that I had deleted using my PC. Refreshing the inbox then removes the message from the inbox. Prior to the repair notifications would be updated within about 20 seconds of a new message or me reading a message.

DFSW: yea its easy to tell because It can still go into download mode which has odin mode at the top and "modified" ostlt as well, is there anyone whos had there phone fixed even tho rooted?

oh yea the moister tab is white with blue x's is that ok?

All SDS phones show 'Modified' because the phone can't read the partition to tell it's not. My 100% stock phone showed modified in download mode when it got SDS. They replaced the motherboard without issue.

Ahh thats cool thanks for that, I would've cleared it but there was no way of flashing anything because odin came back failed everytime...no pit partition ... from what I've read on here we are covered regardless if its been rooted..is this true? I know thats the case overseas. For the record I was only running a rooted phone on stock telecom rom. Its in the shop now hopefully back early next week...so funny using the the nokia loan phone lol

I've been waiting for those to become available. Let me know how it works out.

I got a flip front case for my phone which uses a different backing - I suspect that won't work with the extended battery. I do now have a spare charger at work, so that might do the trick for me.

Sorry if this has been covered but does anyone know what is the best performing modem for 2degrees?

I'm running the CM10.1 nightly ROM with a I9300XXDLIB baseband. It seems to go reasonably well but does sometimes go through battery very quickly.

Well if you read carefully on the Sammobile site you'll see that it is a New Zealand firmware. So I assumed that the modem is designed for New Zealand frequency bands. Locate the one say Vodafone if you're using Vodafone/2degrees and Telecome if you're using Telecom.

The differences between the two will be related to Vodafone [Firmware] has Fast Dormancy Enabled [Firmware] and Telecom one doesn't.

The Telecom modem won't actually affect whether or not Fast Dormancy is enabled, that is part of the ROM. However the Telecom modem will be more tuned for performance on the 850mhz band which is primarily what Telecom use. The latest Telecom modem is DUELL2 afaik.

What I meant is the firmware, Fast Dormancy is a firmware feature not a modem. We all know that. But you can still use Vodafone firmware on Telecom network and it still works just fine but your battery life would not be very friendly.

Ok, I'll have a stab at flashing XELLA tonight using mobile ODIN.

The only issue I can think of is I'm on CM10.1 which is 4.2.2 Android. From what i can gather that modem is for 4.1.2 Android, hopefully that won't be an issue...

are you flashing XELLA firmware or just modem? don't see point in downgrading from CM 10.1.
