MurrayM: I've noticed that since getting my S3 repaired (after it got SDS) that notifications from Gmail about new email is a bit spotty.
Sometimes it notifies ok and other times it doesn't notify me about new messages at all. Also when I read a message on my PC it sometimes doesn't remove the notification for that message from my S3. At times like this I go into Gmail on my S3 and it shows the inbox with the old message that I had deleted using my PC. Refreshing the inbox then removes the message from the inbox. Prior to the repair notifications would be updated within about 20 seconds of a new message or me reading a message.

Mine has started to do this as well. Only way to get it working is to restart the phone. Mine hasn't had SDS yet but has been randomly turning off. Perhaps this is the beginning of the end...
networkn: Dumb question I've been with the same rom for a while but think it's time for a wipe and update. Do I update to the newest version of my Wanam ROM then wipe or Wipe then update?
Where does Titanium Backup store full backups by default? Ext SD?
networkn: So I am hoping some bright spark is still awake tonight. trying to use clockwork recovery to read my 64gb sd card but because my current version doesn't support exFAT I think I am out of luck. Having said that I was wondering about upgrading to a version that supports exFAT and looking for a link to something compatible with the i9300, or perhaps Philz, which I found but I am feeling nervous about moving too as I don't know it and am not familiar with the process of migration from one recovery to the next?
networkn: I am having heart failure...
I just install Philz worked fine. I then did a backup to ext_sd and then proceeded to do a wipe and wipe dalvik cache and install new wanam rom. Booted ok like it was a new phone, but I noticed that a lot of the directories I expected to be missing from my internal drive were still present. No problem, went to try and restore my data from titanium and for some reason I couldn't find my external sd card. I then rebooted into philz recovery and tried to mount external sd and it said it couldn't.
I rebooted again and downloaded astro and went to the ext_sd, and it's showing as empty! Also I have a message in the pulldown saying I can remove the SD. I did remove it and reinserted it, and it just comes up and says I can remove it.
Please tell me that the SD card didn't get wiped when I did the wipe above? I've done that process 100 times in the past and it's never touched the SD Card.

ROMs based on android 4.2.1 move all the contents into a directory called '0' (for the multi-user environment). But that doesn't seem to be what has happened here...
Ive done many a factory "wipe" and Dalvik wipe on Philz many dozens of times and never had an incident of a wiped ext sd card. Mine is formatted fat32 IIRC though. 32GB.
Why did you expect the INTERNAL drive to be wiped? And were surprised when it wasn't...
It sounds like the filesystem of your ext sd has been corrupted. Possibly if you can find some powerful recovery software to 'unformat' a ex_FAT drive you might get some of it back. Of course, you could just restore your backups from your PC or google drive or dropbox or...
(Don't worry, I don't do them enough either...).
Cause? Unknown. But logically, the support for ex_FAT is far from bug-free. I was not able to test that aspect - all the other features of Philz seem fine. Check out the thread in xda, see if others have had this trouble. Might be your sd card took this moment to crap itself?
(It's rather sad I am not allowed to use proper language on this web site. Arbitrarily ascribing certain words as 'unacceptable' has as much validity as Dark Ages clerics burning people for Heresy).
IntegerIsNumber: Okay guys. After the latest update from Vodafone, my 3G connection became S***t.
Yesterday I went to Washington and i couldn't even browse anything on my phone. 3G is almost full bar but no data connection at all. My friend iPhone 4S can connect just fine and occasionally I get no reception as well. That's including now. I have 3GB data plan but I can't even use 100MB of it. Ffs. I'm going to flash UK firmware to see if I get better experience.

Not related to the update in anyway and your 3GB bundle is not valid while roaming! I take it you are a Vodafone NZ customer using a Vodafone NZ SIM?
My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.
