Giggs: Hi
Battery: Since I have had the phone I have allowed the battery to completely discharge each time. I now find I get 36-48 hours out of it with moderate use, i.e. using some apps and having the wi-fi on most of the time except overnight and the GPS on for an hour or so a day. I have also looked at settings/applications/running services to make sure nothing is on I don't need, like Google Talk which use to open itself automatically.
I also for the life of me cannot get it to send/receive Pxts.
richarda: Hi
I have a Nokia car charger, which is DC 12/24V, Output is 5.7V/800mA. Will this be ok to use with my HTC Desire?

No matter where you go, there you are.
BigHammer: Some newer Nokia models have microUSB (eg.5630).
The HTC mains adapter is 1A, so at 800mA that Nokia adapter isn't really up to spec and could get rather warm if the Desire tries to suck 1A from it.
I use a Belkin 1A USB cigi adapter with a Nokia USB-microUSB cable. Works well.

Interesting...
Where abouts are you in relation to the cell tower? e.g how strong is your signal?

You need to enter the APN settings for your cell phone network provider. You can find out how further back in this thread topic.

Hi Brendan
The cell tower when I am at work is about 1km from me and the signal is very strong presumably as I am ont eh 3rd floor of the building we are in. At home it is about the same distance away or maybe slightly further and I normally get 2-3 bars.
I have tried the XT APN settings and no joy with any combination I have tried. My current plan is to look at a friends who has an XT Iphone. She is away on holiday at the moment so will look at hers when she gets back.
Cheers
Giggs: Yep sure do have the XT version. Will try Lambchop cheers for that.
What was your theory with the cell site strengths?
