There is a button called "Share & Save", you just click it and it shares the deal with your facebook friends and you get a code.  Havn't tried it myself.  The button is on the same webpage as the phone.

Sweet. Now I just need to have a go of Waylon's Galaxy S before making my mind up.

Doesn't mobicity have hidden costs? I've noted more than one person has said that their credit card is charged more than what they saw at the checkout.

AFAIK Mobicity does not have any hidden costs, I emailed them with the following questions and attached is the reply as well

Hi

I'm from New Zealand and wish to purchase a Samsung Galaxy S i9000.

Do your prices include GST, Do I get a GST receipt, Is there any possibility of having to pay additional GST/Customs when the phone arrives?

Is the phone English parallel imported version, or an asian version?  Has it been reflashed?

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike

MobiCity is owned by a Hong Kong entity and as such complies with the tax code of that country. Therefore, the invoice will not include GST. Import duties are dealt with on the Hong Kong side and if for any reason you receive import duties applied on entry to New Zealand, please forward through the invoice to us for refund.

These phones are international stock and are sourced from all around the world. It is hard to pinpoint where the original stock came from. More often than not it is sourced from either the UK, US or European market. Sometimes they are sourced from within Asia, but not often. The phones come with the original ROM from the manufacturer and not reflashed.

Kind regards,

Above sounds good. I think the user got charger about $10-20 more than expected for the currency conversion.  They charge in $AUS and you may pay a 1-2.5% fee by your bank or credit card for paying in foregin currency.

Having gone back and looked at the people who have mentioned they got charged more, it certainly does appear to be the foreign exchange service fee that accounts for the extra. Apparently they have an NZ bank account so that would be one way to save $20 or so. But I think I'd rather have the added protection of using the credit card and the discount code at least makes that fee neutral.

Hmm I'm struggling to navigate their site at the moment thanks to hopelessly slow internet. I'll have to look at this more thoroughly.

You say they charge in AUD but the price shown on the website is NZD. Is there anyway to change this and do they actually state this during checkout? Very confusing.
It would be easier to use the AU site and then be able to calculate the currency conversion + fees based on your banks own rate.

If you want to view in AUS dollars then visit www.mobicity.com.au  Their payment page states they charge in australian dollars even though prices can be displayed in NZD on the NZ site.  You can pay via, Credit card, Pay Pal, or funds transfer to their Australian Westpac account.  http://www.mobicity.co.nz/about/payment.html

Thanks.
Oddly the NZ payment page doesn't mention that the Westpak account is Australian (but checking on the AU site the details are the same).

This looks like the next best thing after the unlocked-mobiles.com failure. But first I'm going to wait for my refund from them to come through.

Yeah I just thought it was easier to see how long it actually took in reality. I'm going away next Saturday so I guess I can't order one now unless I get it shipped to the place I'm staying.
