K1000716: Handtec seems to be pretty popular on here as well. Pretty quick shipping too. Someone will correct if I'm wrong, but using DHL for shipping makes it quite painless.

Yeah DHL and Fedex have been great for me in the past.
Fedex called me a day before it was even in the country to collect GST so there was no delay etc but you pay to use fedex I think...
DHL are very good too.
kiwitrc:We use both at work. FEDEX are head and shoulders above DHL, if you ever get the choice go FEDEX.

Unfortunately the PBT courier that dropped off my FEDEX package didn't ask either my name or for my signature. Not really all that impressed with that... I realise that's a local issue, but you'd hope they'd stick to their procedures a little better than that.
kingpinner: Hi All,
So i have just had a live chat with one of the mobicity reps after I saw all this GST issues.
They told me "our product doesn't have GST'
The responses she gave were a bit vague, so I put this question to her
"Put it this way. If customs say they have the phone and wont release it unless GST is paid, will mobicity pay that.
there reply
"No, we will not be. As you could see on the invoice which states that there is NO GST on our handsets as mobicity is not an Australian company"
:/
Also, i swear I saw price included GST. Maybe my mind playing tricks on me, but i cant remember for sure since i ordered on 24th Apr.
Can someone confirm if they saw GST included? otherwise an extra ~$190 ontop of what we already paid mobicity is ridiculous.

Am thinking whether to cancel or not. An extra $182 is steep. Only thing stopping me is Ive been dragged along step by step with each delay, and to pull out now, all the agonizing wait was for nothing.
Obviously ill need to think fast before it is shipped and too late.
Kilack:BLazeD: Assuming I dont want to use Mobicity (I see they aren't shipping anything new for 2 weeks at least anyway), which would be the best site to order an S2 from? Clove seem the most reliable and likely to get more stock the fastest?
Cheers
Clove have a very good name, they are pretty fast, seem to get stock quickly and their customer service is pretty good.
I've ordered two phones, one from unlocked mobiles, one from clove.
I never had a problem with either store and would use either again.
Some people had issues with unlocked mobiles because of their credit checks and lack of info about their credit checks...
I think unlocked are usually a bit cheaper than clove but not a huge difference.
K1000716: In this instance the company, Mobicity, is committing a crime. They are deliberately undervaluing the phone to get it through customs without getting picked up. They are also charging us, the consumers, full price, and are portraying themselves as a company with an NZ presence, which they do not have. They apparently de-registered as a company in Aussie last year and are probably doing the same thing there.
They are taking our money, charging us the equivalent GST inclusive price, and are pocketing the difference. You'd be better off going with Handtec and Clove and taking the chance that your package might not get picked up for GST - it'll still be cheaper in the long run.
I'm a bit annoyed as I placed my pre-order with them because I wanted to use a company with a presence here. Instead I've paid an inflated price (they've pocketed their normal profit + the GST equivalent) and help them boost their profits, while they've happily committed fraud. I doubt much can be done to them as they have nothing in NZ, but I know I'll never use them again.
It is different to the hit and miss method, as the company sending it is doing the right thing (full value listed). If it doesn't get picked up the so be it, it was sent correctly and not picked up by customs, the consumer pockets the difference. If the company deliberately mislabels the package ($200 Smasung S5230) that is clearly fraud, and they pocket the extra money - ripping off both the customer and customs.
