Finch: Its not normal for it to take 90 minutes to charge from 15% battery - 27% is it? I think my battery is on the way out?

This is a very common complaint. The cable you get with the phone is of quite poor quality.
Try replacing the cable before you call the battery dead.

Longer cable will make charging slower and also damaged cable will not charge pass 50% or really slow charge.

Get a new cable and good quality but short (same length as original). best microUSB cable out there will be Nokia MicroUSB cable. You can get them really cheap. I'm  using it now and it is bloody good.

Samsung charger cable broke really easily :'( been there and thought it was the battery or the phone was damaged but turned out to be the cable on my missus's phone.

anyword on 4.2 update on Telecom? has been a long wait

have already decided my next device would be Nexus. gets frustrating that it takes a long time for a non Nexus branded device to take forever by their manufacturers to launch them.

I know there always the option of using a custom rom but would prefer the official release

Samsung haven't annouced 4.2 for the S3 yet. You'll be a waiting a while longer.

If you must always have the latest firmware (why?) you can flash Cyanogen mod to your phone.  Or I think there's also a Samsung "Official" beta of 4.2 floating around.

from what I have seen telco's here have updated to EMC2 which is virtually the latest firmware, as siad previous 4.2 yet to be released.

So what features in 4.2 do you actually want or what advantage will it have over your current firmware or is it a case of keeping up with the others.

I've been sick of Vodafone MA2 firmware because of the Data connection issues on my phone for months. Then decided to flash an unlocked Samsung firmware EMC2 and voila my data connection is kicking like crazy :D and have better battery life on idle as well.

Not sure why my 32GB Vodafone S3 did not like MA1 & MA2 firmware. Was frustrated for many months trying to get Data connection to work (Flash & reflash firmware, factory restore twice but no go, sim card changed still no go, clear caches & delvin and finally decided to flash Singapore firmware). But now I am happy once again.

i'm not really in the rush to go to 4.2 yet. I think 4.1.2 EMC2 is holding up pretty solid at the moment for me.

That seems very odd to me, usually 2 - 3 hours to fully charge from nothing. Of course depends if you have a power charger or USB only.

My phone seems to be stuck at the Samsung logo on turn on this morning. I can still get into recovery and download mode, tried restoring a backup and reflashing the ROM but that makes no difference. I haven't tried a reset yet, any one have any suggestions on how to sort it?

Phone is a 32G and wasnt supposed to be affected by SDS as far as I am aware.

Also anyone know where I can get a stock Vodafone ROM from besides sammobile.com which is giving me malware warnings currently.

You can get the firmware from xda or I can burn it onto a disc for you. I have it.

Pretty sure I've read that a Wipe cache/Data reset in Recovery should fix this for you. Maybe try pulling the battery first.

Speaking of Recovery mode. I can't seem to get into it today and I'm not sure why. I'm doing the three finger combo, I see the Droid with the moving parts, then I see the Samsung boot logo, and then my phone boots up.

Is there a trick to this? :)

I've had my phone in Recovery mode before, but today, I can't get into it.
