So i've got root on my S4 using this process from Chainfire.

I've also flashed another tar from the same thread to make it all look official again.

blakamin:
JohnnyDrama: Guys, does the S4 come with the 50GB Dropbox storage that the S3 carried?

Mine said it did when I turned it on, but I still only have the 50 from my s3.

Mine now shows that I'm using 2.83% of my 50.8GB :)  It upgraded me from 2GB to 50GB (rather than adding an extra 50....)

I'm guessing most here are buying the GT-I9505 as that's what is being sold here...and supports LTE.

Am I crazy in thinking I might want to buy the international version, the GT-I9500, with the faster octacore instead of snapdragon, and better power management - giving up the 4G option?

If a person can buy a brand new one for about $950(NZ) from Australia...I'm guessing it'll be 15% GST plus an import fee, so in the same rough ballpark as what an unlocked 9505 costs here?

Thoughts?

there are some NZ retailers who can order in the I9500 for same price as I9505. I thought about doing this but in the end figured either would be fast enough that I won't notice any difference in real world usage, and that maybe the Snapdragon 600 will be wider supported.

What I want to know though is is anyone else able to do the following with their S4? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=eEdLhRzGi-U#at=105, Mine doesn't appear to be anywhere near as sensitive, is their an option I need to enable? I really want to be able to use this feature. - edit- nevermind, I just found the option.

You might want to check out this thread from one of the best Android kernel developers before you assume the i9500 has better power management.

Root.. check
Stock recovery ..check
System.. official..check

Yes, all done and working.

Now, if I backup my apps on my S3 via Titanium Backup, and then copy that TB folder to my S4, will it restore fine?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Interesting.  Plenty of benchmarks have already shown that the 9505 is somewhat faster...that thread is primarily talking about how the current implementation is holding back the performance and battery life compared to what the architecture SHOULD be able to do.  Of note...the benchmarks already show a performance advantage towards the I9500.  I guess the question is...whether the battery life is the same or better compared to the 9505.

I haven't done a full TB restore, just apps and their data, but so far i've not found an app that won't work.
