Does anyone have a copy of the original I9000T 2.1 ROM they'd care to upload? I had a feeling someone already had, but I've been through about 100 posts, and I can't be faffed searching any more!!

You can find the original 2.2 ROM for Telecom NZ here. Flash it using ODIN. Haven't on my searches found a 2.1 ROM but I didn't look too hard since I was just after any Telecom branded original ROM so I could flash and send my phone away for repairs.

Any news on your battery problems since your flash?

Not really much different, although I'm only on the third cycle today so maybe things will change. on the first day my battery hit 1% at 1130pm (from 7am) but I was partially attempting to drain it near the end. Yesterday I used JuiceDefender all day so it was at 30% by 11pm. I usually still have 65% battery at 5pm when getting home from work.

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

That's not bad, better than I get if I use GPS to track a run, and then listen to podcasts over bluetooth in the car.

I upgraded from Darky's 9.5 to 10.1 (gingerbread) last night. Previously I've only ever done firmwares directly on the phone via CWM, and have never used odin etc before.

For the initial Ficeto base upgrade I couldn't get odin working on my 64bit win7 machine at work, so instead used heimdall on my home ubuntu maverick desktop, with no problems whatsoever.

Darky's 10.1 then went on smoothly using CWM, restored my apps using Titanium and I'm away laughing.

No problems recording video (was mentioned by an earlier poster).

I'm using FuguKernel Ultra with the preemptive RCU so not sure how this impacts on battery life.

It normally takes a half dozen or so charging cycles to settle down after a flash. You can maybe shorten that by doing the complete discharge/full charge/wipe stats circus.

My battery seems to be going well at the moment - lost 7% in 9 hours in a very poor signal area (e.g. have to hold the phone in the air to send a txt or run off to a certain corner to make a voice call). Running the BUJV3 modem on 2degrees, with the newest simply honey rom. DamianGTO kernel @ 1280mhz and -125mv (but now trying fugumod ultra, seems smoother but lacks the undervolting and overclocking).

My point is this: I have had badd battery and good battery results - the pattern seems to be if I flash a lot of roms, the battery stats never seem to get a chance to settle down. But when I stick with a rom for a week or two it seems to even out.

If you are flashing a lot of roms - or even just kernels maybe - I think just ignore the battery stats, they are likely wrong anyway. The battery will last the same as it always has (less a tiny bit due to aging).

Got sick of the oversharpness on Damiens Kernel, have changed to Dark Core 2.4 - ah my eyes, it's good to have the 'ol' Chainfire's sharpness.

Have not been able to get BLN working (which it's meant to support) hmmm. Anyone else on this combo (simply honey 3.5 + dark core 2.4) with BLN functioning as it should? Every time I open the BLN app it tells me the kernel doesn't support it. Have tried reflashing and clearing caches/dalvik.

Maybe the jump to ginger was too early...? JSD looks promising to go 'back' to.

Yes I'm on that combination. Don't use BLN. Loaded the (free) app and it didn't complain like you suggest, but I couldn't get it to work either. Then again, I don't use it so not exactly sure if I'm doing it right.

Thanks for that, have tried pushing services.jar with ADB (followed by a reboot) and manually copying and pasting with root explorer (again followed by a reboot) without luck.

Tried a reflash of dark core just to be persistant and reinstalling BLN from the market but still no luck. Maybe a change of ROMs is on the cards!

Did you change root explorer to read/write. backup the old one just in case it does something strange to your rom

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

Hi guys, long time lurker, first time poster :)

Just brought a SGS from Hong Kong its got 2.1 on it, whats the best way for me to update the firmware id like to be on 2.2 or 2.2.1 (not sure about 2.3 just now)

Since the phones from HK do i have to be careful what rom im flashing?

any suggestions would be sweet :)

Welcome to Geekone!!

Just did this last night actually!

-          Download Odin (v1.53 or above)

-          Download a stock Android Galaxy S 2.2 ROM from samfirmwares.com

-          Flash the stock ROM using Odin (you need to confirm that you can boot into recovery mode and download mode first)

-          Download the latest Hardcore Speedmod kernel (make sure you get the Odin version)

-          Flash this with Odin. This will give you ClockworkMod recovery where you can flash unsigned .zip files

-          Cook a rom at http://romkitchen.org/, download it, and place it in the root directory of your internal SD card (not the removable one)

-          Reboot your phone into recovery (volume up+home+power)

-          Do a factory reset, cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe

-          Flash the ROM you just cooked

-          Reboot into recovery, and enable any of the tweaks/lagfixes you like

The above is an overview of the process – you should probably read up a bit more about the specifics before you have a go at it. Google away, or post specific questions as you need to.
