Still doing it, however shaking the phone seems to make it work again.
Only issue is that when I go to take it back it does not do it in the shop so they think I'm mad because it's working.

I guess it's a fine line between shaking it to prove there's something loose inside, and them claiming you have mistreated it by shaking it!
The thing being, the longer it tasks for them to admit a problem the less chance you so get a straight replacement and more likely it will be sent for repair.

Microphone not working. Tried safe mode and a factory reset to no avail so my shiny new S8 has been returned for repair action. Pretty confident it is a hardware fault. It hasnt got wet (I know it's water resistant), hasn't been dropped and has spent its short life cosseted in a full case. So now I have to wait 5 to 10 working days for them to fix/replace it. Bloody annoying because I had only just got it to the way I liked it. At least it's not rooted so I don't have to argue that, even though it's a hardware fault.

Mine also went back today due to the camera fault.  Happening about 4 times a day now even after putting the spark firmware back on, a quick shake fixes it however it should not be doing it and seems to be happening more.

Currently using a loan s7.

One of the staff there asked me how long I had it and said if I came in 2 weeks ago when I was first having the issue they would have just swap it out.  When I said I had come in 2 weeks ago and I got the "we have to send it off and they will reload the firmware" he shut up and went back to doing other stuff.  Funny thing is when I showed him pictures of what was happening on my ipad he also said he has had a couple of photos like that on his s8+

I've just returned a 2 week old Gear S3 that stopped charging.

I'm wondering, from reading the various posts, whether Samsung have a wee quality control issue?

I don't believe we are at Note 7 levels. Bit of a squeaky wheel effect at the moment. Those of us experiencing hardware defects speaking up, those happily using their devices have no comment to make. I'd be interested to know what manufacturers consider an acceptable return rate for manufacturing defects. I'm sure it is built into the initial price.

I had the same camera issue as mentioned above so I took it back to Samsung straight away. They replaced it with a brand new unit as it within the dead on arrival period which they said is 14 days.

Did you purchase from samsung?

I did try and return mine to spark within the 14 days but they told me last night their swap out time frame is 7 days.  I went in on day 12

I had a bit a of a play around be today with the display at Noel Leeming, really impressed by the look and feel!

One more question? I tried to find an answer for online but not much luck, is there an option for multiple user accounts on the same phone?
My Nexus 6 has the menu option "users" under the "device" heading but couldn't seem to find it on the S8.
Is it a limitation for the demo model or does Samsung not have this android feature?

Yes I bought it from Samsung. When did you initially raise the issue with Spark? Was it in the first 7 days?

Started to happen (that i noticed as i don't normally take many photos) around day 6 or 7 i guess.  Then did a reset and still did it went in day 12.  They told me that they will just reflash the firmware if sent away which I can do at home.  It's still showing as "with courier" so should turn up at the repair place today.

Hmm looks like there is an open NZ firmware with CSC of XNZ.

https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950F/XNZ/ and http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?r=XNZ&v=&q=G950F

All other Samsung devices using the XNZ code are NZ ones.

Anyone come across this before? Looks like it is getting the same updates as XSA, so if it keeps up with that I might be switching to that to try it out.

Oh this is interesting, have not seen xnz before.  Saying that however xnz does not really mean it is NZ firmware. Let us know if you flash it, you should be able to tell if it is NZ when you CSC changes and you get the start setup screen it should be defaulted to "New Zealand" as the language.

It is NZ firmware for sure. It has been used on other devices too.
