kingpinner: I have asked mobicity to cancel my order (waiting on confirm email though). They said I would get full refund which is good.

I almost decided that i was going to risk it, but then, whats the point. Just not worth the headache if customs check it. Plus slightly more paranoid now that some of you have stated you have raised the issue to customs which now created greater risk.

Will wait for refund to come through then look at options.

Also know a couple of others who have now decided to cancel theres.

Sorry, to cause that grief, but it is was always going to be a risk either way. They, customs, could have randomly checked and bam!! you loose the lot! anyway. Or face a bigger bill or what ever punishment they dish out!!.

Handtech are straight up company!.

also interesting to note - I was able to cancel order via live chat. (I did have my first name/mobile/email entered). Not sure if they checked that, but it appears they cancelled my order just with me saying "I wish to cancel my order, order number <order num>.

The confirmation email i received just stated it had been cancelled, no further action required.

Perhaps could have cancelled some of those in the very first first batch (I was only a few order away from the one that got shipped) and bump my way to the top ;),

Nice.  If he suddenly finds he has a flood of geekzone S2 orders cannibalised off Mobicity et al, I should point to the geekzone audit trail if/when when I later pull the trigger on the S2...

Looks like a good price for NZ retail considering they'll need to provide a warranty. My Clove sourced phone cost me $1160 all up once credit card fees, freight and GST were paid.

Meanwhile some guy's currently trying to flog them for $1350 on Trademe after selling a few easily early this week, and taking no personal responsibility for warranty.

Yeah not a bad price. However for me $1170 is just abit too much to be spending on a phone :P

I have just placed my order with ezishopping, should have stock on the 20th, will cancel mobicity order!
Hopefully i can get hold of them before they ship my order so as to avoid re-stocking fees etc.

Just to reiterate:

Ezigadget (wgtn) - see my testimonial above
Ezishopping (different ownership in chch... I've no.knowledge of them)

Not that I have anything against chch companies .. I'm a one eyed Cantab... but just making it crystal clear for prospective s2 purchasers .

Would be easy to confuse the two though, they have nearly identical websites. Surely looking at that they must be linked in some way?

See my earlier post. May be inaccurate but was told ownership is different. Suggest someone asks them to confirm.

They might just have the same web designer, I hope they didn't pay for a unique website Haha

Who knows. Confirming Legal business ownership can be a murky thing in nz. Could be sole trader, partnership, Ltd co but trade name can have no relation to this... so hard to nail down. For the record I tried looking into this back in Oct 2010 but got ambiguous results from companies office.
