I use mine pretty much exclusively with the dock. it's pretty much like having a touchscreen netbook and the battery life is amazing.

I bought my keyboard-dock from playtech.co.nz (back in August) - was very quick delivery.
(I had previously ordered my TF101 from firstin.co.nz - which of course took much longer to deliver.)

kind regards Andrew TD

Yeah I definitely think the dock is a must-have.

Hey Andrew, I picked up this mini-HDMI cable from DSE, I assume it's the same as the one you bought?
http://www.dicksmith.co.nz/product/C1791/titanium-series-cable-hdmi-mini-hdmi-1-5-meters

I was staying at SkyCity Grand over the weekend and decided to see if we could watch some Sons of Anarchy (via usb stick avi's, via Transformer) on the hotel room telly. It was a Panasonic. So went to the DSE nearby and got that cable. Alas, no go. Didn't register anything at all - tried all three HDMI inputs. Rather than take it back I decided to try it when I got home on my Samsung. It worked. How annoying though, it would be good to be able to take avi's on usb's and play them on hotel tv's via the Transformer. But I assume it's going to be pure hit or miss. Does anyone know if there is any rhyme or reason around this issue? Going down to the Mount this weekend but no idea what brand telly the hotel has...bit silly to be reliant on that.
(I also have a WD TV Live and even though that plugged in ok at SkyCity Grand, I couldn't control the volume so couldn't watch anything as it was WAY too loud. The hotel has replaced the Panasonic remotes with those hotel ones with limited functions - and not even the volume control on the actual television worked - tried it via composite, component, and HDMI inputs)

It seems you're not the only one having this issue, working on 1 tv, and not another:

I've read about the HDMI issue. There is a technical explanation, but the gist of it is sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The Transformer screen stays on too, which drains the battery, so I turn the screen brightness way down. It works on my Samsung TV at home, didn't work on a random one I tried once.

Ok thanks. Another reason I'm glad I chose Samsung. Ok well oil take it and try it on whatever telly is at The Mount this weekend. ;-)

Hey has anyone used portable external speakers with the Transformer? I wouldn't mind getting some but am wondering what the best option is.

It has a 3.5mm standard headphone out socket, anything with a matching input should work fine.

Has anyone heard if/when the original Transformer will get ICS?

Edit - answer here. Probably not too far away.

I read that the ICS update has been finished and sent to Google for approval. So any day now we should have ICS for the original transformer :)

From what i've read I expect good things. Someone wrote that on the Xoom it made honeycomb feel like beta software. Keyboard lag should be gone, and just lots of small reliability and usability improvments. I'm looking forward to it!
