Picked one up from NL for $799 on Wednesday night. I was planning to get an HTC One after having a play with one in the UK last week (that's one sexy phone in the hand), but the price of the Xperia was just too good, and the uncertain availability of the HTC put me off (and, to be honest, the uncertain future of HTC itself).

This is an upgrade from a LG P970 Optimus Black, so a gigantic leap (and the last LG I will buy, btw). My wife also got a new phone at the same time (blue Samsung GS3).

The Z is a great phone. It's super fast, feels amazing and the screen is great. As has been said before, the screen doesn't have the contrast and inky blacks of the Samsung AMOLED, or the wide viewing angles, but the colour is much more natural and the resolution is just amazing. I have played with the S3 on and off since Wednesday, and while its screen has some advantages, I keep drifting back to the Z's big 1080 screen. I also love picking up the Xperia. Its build quality just feels so much better than the Samsung's cheap plastic. Picks up fingerprints like crazy, though (less so now that it's in a Krusell case).

I played with it heavily for a few hours the night I got it, and it didn't lag once the whole time. Just silky smooth, and I am still yet to see it freeze or slow. Updated it last night to the latest firmware without a problem.

It came with the usual 'My Vodafone' and 'Updates' apps installed, but otherwise the interface has no obvious vodafone changes.

Do you mean  the dock??

I just got mine today and a reviewer online said getting the dock is a smart move for the magnetic charging
