Jattennz: It's a shame they don't bring in the 32gb models for LG in NZ (same with the LG G2).

Small NZ market size & cost consideration I guess, if the 16GB model is over $1050, imagine the price for 32GB version.

And also historically, NZ carriers had only stocked the lower memory version of various Android flagships, e.g. 16GB S3 & S4, 32GB M7 (when 64GB version is available overseas).

Very keen to get this in coming days but waiting for price to drop under 800 dollars..very budget oriented guy here :) cheapest right now is 817 from Einfo ...not too far to go, Valuebasket at one point was selling 32gb version for 739 all inclusive but nzd at that point was almost .88usd . Has anyone use valuebasket before? their reviews give a mixed picture.

I'm looking very hard at valuebasket (http://www.valuebasket.co.nz/en_NZ/LG-G3-D855-32GB-LTE-SIM-Free-/-Unlocked-(Black)/mainproduct/view/16577-AA-BK) which today is charging $770 for the 32GB model. Doesn't seem to be any GST though so no idea what's going on there - I assume it's just an international purchase ie no tax? That could be an issue when it gets to Customs..

I notice that you can sign up to their newsletter and you immediately get a $5 voucher, which seems positive.
I pinged them an email about non-English software etc on 'pareallel imported' devices, got a reply in under 15 minutes.

Hello,

I would suggest stay clear of value basket, they have too many bad reviews. while price is all inclusive, you may wait for long to get your product as it seems people have to chase for their orders and excuses are vague. they take advance payment and then you are at their mercy, though they do refund people finally but at this point mobile station is cheaper then them at 759$ all inclusive.

The only review I've seen is the forum post on PriceSpy (http://pricespy.co.nz/forum/index.php?showtopic=2047) which is pretty negative, so thanks for the heads-up. Similar to some of the other posts in that forum, I was pretty impressed with the very quick response to email questions, and was very close to ordering despite the price difference.

Mobile Station has always been 'ok' (several purchases over three years) but in this particular case, they don't have a LG G3 in their showroom so I can't check to see how much (if any) non-English apps are pre-installed. Valuebasket says they ship UK-sourced models which would mean no bloat-ware that I can't read :) Still, Mobile Station appears to be the place to go at the moment.

Pricespy has limited info on Valuebasket, search on google and you will get many customer reviews from nz.trustpilot.com and scambusters.co.nz , I was close to ordering too but decided to avoid value basket, going to use mobile station after speaking to them tomorrow.

[Hello all, introducing my first post in geekzone!]

So I have just bought an LG G3 from mobilestation.co.nz after doing some research and playing with a model at my local Harvey Norman. Upgrading from the candybar Nokia N79 so this should be an interesting turn of events.

When I do receive it, I may post here my first/later impressions of it :)

In the meanwhile, for anyone who possesses the G3 (or is considering/planning), what are your thoughts?

I felt like I needed a change from the Samsung S3 that had served me faithfully for the past 2 years. After an awful lot of research I opted for the LG G3. It's the parallel import 32Gb version. It's unlocked and running on Spark. Was easy enough to setup. So far I'm very impressed. Screen is simply amazing. Battery life has been good so far.

hi, since everyone is soon going to walkaround holding an apple shoebox to their faces I am suddenly interested in a G3!

currently using an S4 but the Samsung drives me nuts because the back button is too sensitive when holding with one hand, and everything lags - a lot!

anyone used both before and can comment? thanks

I came from the S3 and I know what you mean about hitting the back button all the time. Must be my big fingers. Anyway, I don't suffer from that with the LG. The best thing is the lack of buttons and the ones it does have are in a great place at the rear.

So I've been in possession of a 32GB model of the LG G3 for under 2 weeks now, and am lovin' it.

- Though I have relatively small hands, the device isn't overly awkward to use thanks to its curved sides. Having the option of single-hand use comes in handy too (but haven't really used this feature).
- This does mean though that this phone isn't so pocket friendly - unless you have big pockets, then voilà!
- The display is pretty nice, though in real-life use I haven't been in great awe of it. On the contrary, images which are pixelated are exposed which is a bit annoying (though perhaps this is me adjusting from a non-touch screen phone).
- The UI itself is also quite nice and neat. The knock feature to turn on/off the screen is very handy! On a side note, I dislike the lock screen when you're using the music player, as album art takes up the entire screen (which I feel is unnecessary - though the Quick Circle ver. is fine - see below for more details on the Quick Circle).
- Battery life lasts over a day with moderate web browsing, some call time, other applications. IMHO the screen display is a significant factor in draining battery life.
- I have the delight of protecting my G3 with a (non-official) Quick Circle case, and the apps are quite useful. I would recommend installing "Quick Apps" as you have the option of having a number of 'standard' apps on the quick circle lock screen such as a calculator, timer, stop watch, torch, calendar, notifications etc.

Overall, pretty happy with my LG G3 :)

LG Electronics (LG) this week will begin rolling out the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade for G3 smartphones starting in Poland this week, to be followed by other key markets in the near future. LG, the first global smartphone manufacturer to offer the Lollipop upgrade in 2014, will subsequently announce an upgrade schedule for other LG mobile devices.

This latest Android OS delivers a host of improvements including a new design language with added depth, shadows and animations. Notifications are improved with a new layout and color scheme and will be available on the new lock screen. A new security feature to strengthen the connectivity between devices will include enabling users to unlock their smartphone when it is physically near a pre-registered Bluetooth device such as the LG G Watch or G Watch R. Lollipop also introduces Android Runtime (ART) software to improve performance.

“LG is absolutely committed to giving our customers the best mobile experiences available and bringing Android Lollipop to G3 owners as soon as possible is a top priority,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The new features and improvements in Android 5.0 will bring a whole new user experience to the G3 and make it even better than it already is.”

Additional details related to LG devices will be announced in the near future as the Lollipop upgrade becomes available in local markets.

Interesting that lg is potentially moving so quickly with this, as the option to use art runtime on my G3 causes the phone to crash reasonably frequently which is always traced back to one system app or another and I always have to revert back to dalvik.
