Does fast charging wear a battery out faster for any reason other than heat generation? If not then so long as the temperature stays okay there is no real point using a slower charger. I will look at the charging temperature with a slow and fast charger over the next few days.

19-90% yesterday at 36 degrees.

best thing to do it not use it while charging.

if you take care of it i dont think you see an appreciable difference between fast charging or slow charging over the batteries life.

I ran a quick charge and a slow charge yesterday on the Pixel 4a. The quick charge took about 30 minutes, peaking at 3000mah and 35 degrees. The slow charge took about an hour, peaking at 1600mah and briefly hit 32 degrees, though was mostly around 30 degrees. Accubattery reported about the same amount of battery wear from both charging sessions.

I can't easily find any precise numbers, but a difference of 3-5 degrees in charging is unlikely to be material. You can fast charge up to 45 degrees, though my reading suggests that room temperature is better, 20 - 30 degrees.

So all in all fast charging is likely fine, ideally keeping the battery below 40 degrees while charging, and never put it on the dashboard in the sun while charging if you want the battery to last.

Just FYI for anyone that has purchased a Nord from NL please check the aftermarket charger bundled with it as it is quite possibly a much cheaper charger than they advertise instore or on the website. If you want the 25w charger you just need to take back the one you got with your Nord and they will replace it with the correct TA800 charger, they also gave me an international adapter for the original for the inconvenience. They said the supplier has packaged the wrong chargers and they are working with the supplier to correct this. It was no drama, they have realised they have made a mistake.

You are correct, however the charger they accidently sent out takes 4+hours to get to 80%, where the one they are advertising it comes with, is about 2 times faster, but not a warp charger. If anyone is finding the charger that came with the phone too slow and was purchased from NL you can take it in for swap. Prefer this as a backup charger to the one they originally sent out and good on NL for fixing it.

Thanks. How do I know if its the T800? It doesnt say T800 in the serials etc. All it says on top is "Adaptive Fast Charging"

I want to use the OP "Warp" charger that came with it, but due to its size it does not fit in my multi international adapters circular ring. It needs to have a flat face if that makes sense.

Can anyone suggest a cheap but not total rubbish adapter than will work with the big Warp charger? (preferable PBtech for convenience)

I must say I love the Red Cables, higher quality than any other OEM just going by feel. I never thought of charging as feature to not be ignored until the OP. What other company's do temperature monitoring while charging?

Is there an app I should use to test the phones temp while charging?

sort answer is no, unless you are gaming at QHD+ with the brightness up while charging it will be fine.

but if you really want to look at temps and charge rates i use ampere

Suggest using your phone camera to zoom in to see the serial, model and specs. The T800 has a USB-C outout not USB-A and you will need to buy a 100w cable from PB is will also have on the side "Super fast charging".

I am no expert but have had a few Oneplus phones, and I believe that the Warp tech is in the charger itself and why they are much larger than the Samsung chargers, something about Oneplus have worked it so the charger does the hard work not the phone and battery. Not sure how that works. But I have never had heat issues with my OP's using a Warp charger but I have had other brand phones overheat and batteries split etc.

TA20 is 10W T800 is 25W

you likely wont get 25W from the Samsung, maybe 10-15W

I have a 18w QC3, a 20W OPPO VOOC charger and a 22.5W huewai Super Charger here which ill test against the 30W OnePlus warp charger. Just need to burn the battery down.

18w QC3, and a 22.5W huewai Super Charger both less than 10w from them (between 1.3 and 1.8A)

20W OPPO VOOC charger getting the full 20W from it (about 3.8A)

30W OnePlus warp charger. full 30W (About 5.8A)

That was all using the Red OnePlus cable, using a different USB A to C cable was less than 10W on all chargers.

If you want to pick up a charger with a NZ plug that gives good charging speed try an OPPO one.

Thanks Jase. I have the original 30w Warp charger. I just need a euro to NZ adapter, but my one has a circular inlay so the dame Warp doesnt fit, so need to buy one that is flat if that makes sense.

How do you test the temperature etc, is there some software for this?
