Is this the case with all OP phones, does anybody know why they would not include the original charger? The 30w warp charger is a selling point of the OP8 and Nord phones.

Likely because the charger included in the box has a foreign plug.

They are a parallel imported phone with no NZ charger, better to have something than nothing at all I guess?

Cripes that sucks, I only posted new thread has the credit card out for the $699 price.

Should she go ahead with the 25w charger, is the 30w WARP charger a gimick, will the 25w not charge quickly like the OP 30w?

Heat is bad for batteries, and faster charging creates more heat.

It's generally better for a battery to charge slower so it doesn't get so hot. The charger with my Pixel can do 3000mah, but I put it on the standard chargers that to 1000mah to 1500mah.

Incidentally, you're also best charging your device between about 40% and 80% if you want the battery to wear out more slowly. I use AccuBattery to help.

Unrelated but note PBTech say 2 year warranty where as Noels says 1 year warranty.

Yes I did notice that. Kimovil says there is only one Global model. Interestingly other parralel importers have done the same.

My main concern was that it wont run 5g, but the Global model runs on n78, kimovil says it will run on spark.

The question is, PBtech is worth $50 for 1 year more warranty and genuine charger, BUT, it says wont ship until the 25th as they are out of stock. So god knows if that means they are shipping from overseas or if they mean shipping from PBtech.............

Ok it says available to click and collect on the 21st. 2 week wait.

So is the $50 worth NZ's only genuine OnePlus dealer and 2 years warranty? Im thinking so.

Sorry for taking this outside of the Nord thread, I just wasnt sure if this was normal for OP phones in general....

Warp charging <> quick charge or some of the other charge standards

I suggest you take a look at how it works before commenting further.

Yes I dont think they are all the same fast chargers Handle?

I think waiting 2 weeks for NZs genuine OP seller, 2 years warranty and hopefully the genuine charger might be worth it....

On the PBTech site it says "*5G is not enabled for New Zealand" but it advertises the phone as 5g compliant, which the only global models are..... bit confused.

Warp charge is entirely proprietary and relies on a OnePlus, cable and phone. It's a fair bit cleverer than the Qualcomm Quick Charge etc as it actively manages the temperature of the battery.

From memory the OnePlus phones from Noels still had the original charger in the box but that might have changed, I haven't been in NZ for a while.

No it has a Samsung charger now. id rather the original charger and use my wall adapter.

This and the fact its only 1 year warranty Ive decided to tell her to wait for PB stock. If the OP8 comes on special in the mean time at least I know the deal with the chargers.

Im not sure why NZ 5G is disabled though, Spark is up and running.

I would wait but you can also buy warp wall and car chargers on Aliexpress for not too much. Having warp charging in the car is totally worth it.

Well you are right it doesnt. It does say it comes with a Warp Type-C cable (Support USB 2.0) but somebody asked if it comes with the original dash charger and the replied "An NZ fast charger is included."

So really all I get is an extra years warranty...
