I started charging and using my phone as soon as I got it. wonder if that has something to do with it. I'd suspect that my love of custom roms was causing my battery woes, however Neets has terrific battery life. If I can figure out why my battery life somewhat sucks I'll be very happy with my phone instead of partially happy but partially frustrated. Any ideas where I can buy a new OEM battery?

Like you, I couldn't leave my new toy alone while it charged.  So yeah, I was using my phone (setting it up) while it was still charging for the very first time. You can cross that off your list of possible reasons your battery life is pathetic.

Here's what I searched.

I've pulled the back off my phone to check the picture.  There are slight differences in the entire s/n and the date, mine is 2010.07.23  And the EB number has a small difference too.  But I don't know if these differences mean it's a fake.  It "looks" genuine, though I notice not all the little accents etc on the other languages are the same.

I guess you have to decide if it's price is worth the gamble, and frustration, and delay should it turn out to be a dud that you've got to go and buy another.

Does Vodafone/Telecom/2degrees not sell them?

Vodafone site doesn't have them for sale. They would probably be overpriced anyway.

Interesting topic, thanks.

Phone: SGS - NZ, Firmware: Android 2.1

I am at 48% after 22h24m with the statistics(98% its on standby/idle):

Display 8%
Cell Standby 46%
Phone Idle 35%
Android system 6%
Android OS 4%
Maps 3%
wifi on,
GPS on

According with other statistics, my phone has a problem with idle(35% too much)?
What you think?
Cheers

Your Phone Idle of 35% certainly seems much higher than mine was.  Though I wouldn't know what would cause this so I'm not any help in troubleshooting it.

I'm at 33%.  At home wifi is on and Gmail, Twitter and FB all synching.  Still on the same charge (apart from that 2 minute window where I had the USB connected).

Yo Neets...

Had a gander at the VF website and iPhone users get 250MB on the same plan I (and I imagine, you) have, that being Smart 3.

They also get a better subsidy. Puts us firmly in the second class citizen class I think. If Vodafone don't do something to address that pro Apple bias, they can stick their Smart 3 contract. I think I'll check out the ETF and go with 2º. Don't care if their out of city coverage is worse than VF's, since most of my calls happen in metropolitan areas. Now that we can retain our phone numbers, I don't see any good reason to stick with VF.

I'll prolly post in the specific carrier forum, as this is really off-topic, and I'll ping you a PM if there's anything worth reading over there.

Cheers,
R2D2

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new
owner. Galaxy S3 has gone to its new owner. Now using Galaxy Note 3. Skipping Note 4 I think...

Holy hell I wish my battery life was like that. After 3 hours of screen usage my battery is either dead or 15%!

Do you use anything like JuiceDefender to turn 3g on via schedule?
