For those who have the A500, how are your screens? Mine looks like it is in 640 x 480 when watching youtube or looking at photos. There is also a lot of colour banding.

It looks pretty good to me.  Can you post an image?  You can take a screenshot with DDMS if you have that on your computer.

This is the best I could do, taken with my SGS.
You can see the bands around the camera controls. Pics taken with the camera look like they have had a filter attached and look blocky and colour banded. Same with youtube vids etc

I'm not sure if the banding is the image or the display. I suspect the it's the image as it looks like a spiral, but without the original I'm not sure how to tell.  How does the photo you took look on your computer when you copy it across? Here's a photo I took (with N1).

Its not the image. Your pic when viewed on my A500 looks the same with the coloured banding around it. Does the same for youtube etc. Looks like its 16bit colour or similar. I am taking it back this morning anyway and comparing to the one in store.
Hopefully I can get a swap

i m pretty impressed with the A500, just picked up from harvey normanhis evening. after rooting the device, i m able to just plug my external hdd on the usb port and watch movies out of it. I belive there is no other device(tablet)at present can do this.

lol. should make ipad user jealous Cool

.

The worst thing probably is that it's not explained (anywhere I could see) that you need this software to move files to and from the deivce over USB on a Mac:

i use my 16gb thumb drive to copy from pc and plug straight on the a500.

yep that is what sold it to me over the other android tablets that are coming, although I have managed to stuffed up a flash card. Honeycomb could do with an option to safely remove the usb device, hope that will come in an update.

here are a few things i've found since I purchased it las week.

  • as I said before, could do with a safely remove usb device option

  • if you plug in the headlphones before turning on the screen, sound can still be heard from the devices speakers

  • I've also had issues downloading attachments using imap and the built in email client

I have successfully converted some Freeview programmes that I recorded using Mythtv, into a format that can be played on the A500.

I've also managed to get a sleave. 10" stm sleave from Noel Leeming for $36 or there abouts, although any 10" netbook sleave will probably do.

Hi,

To cut and paste just press and hold down on text and a Text selection menu comes up in the Action Bar (pretty full options). Use the green trapezium at each eand to change selection.

pominnz: Can you detail how you got the mythtv recordings out and which options you used? (I remember using a text based export tool at sopme point, but you might be able to save a bit of time!)

Cheers,
Julius.

Give them chance, I believe they will come.

I got a Golla Genmob case/sleeve which is 10.2 inches from Bond and Bond yesterday for $39. Fits the A500 perfectly.

Good to know about the sleeve, I've been wondering about this as I keep walking aobut without one and it's a bit slippery to hold.

How's video playback on your A500? Mine is very laggy. The file was a MP4
