Is there any way to sign out of it?

I couldn't find a way, and even a Root-assisted Tasker task couldn't kill it (it did, but then it just started up again).

Intrusive much?

It's supposed to run in the background so you can get messages and receive calls. It doesn't use a lot of data or battery either so not really a problem.

What @lokhor wrote is true.

At any rate, you should be able to shut down the app using Force Kill (Android's basic feature).

I realise its meant to run in the background, I just want it to do that on my terms.

It doesn't show in the task manager, so I couldn't force kill it there, thats why I used Tasker and that didn't work as it reopened immediately.

A sign out button would be appreciated!

Is it possible to stop it from vibrating on outgoing messages? 3 vibrates every time I send a message on my S2 gets a bit annoying :p

Seconded.

Also, the incoming message pop-up only shows one line of the message with the others faded out, then I have to scroll up and down to see the rest it properly. Can this be made taller so I can actually read three lines of text before fading out? Or preferably 5 lines of text. Anyway, that's a pet peeve.

The pop-up preview is meant to only be a preview of a Viber text message. You can simply open the message by clicking it in order to see its full content. Showing the full message in the pop-up preview will defeat the purpose of it being "preview", so at least stage, and according to users' response, we plan to keep it this way.

Can't find the dam thing on my girlfriend phone, Andoird 2.2 same as my phone but it isn't showing up even after searching for com.viber.voip

Yep, from Settings inside Viber.

The Viber icon re-appeared in the notification tray, thats how I know it opened up.

I didn't manage to kill, in the end I uninstalled it.

We haven't encountered any complaint before about the inability to force-kill Viber's task in Android's take manager (nor Viber simply not appearing in tasks).
The fact that the notification icon reappears right after you kill it using Tasker just means Tasker isn't doing its job properly.

It issues the shell "kill" command on the specified process. That's about as good as you get. I'll not hear a bad word spoken of Tasker... :)

Odds are Viber has a foreground process and a background service running which restarts the foreground process when it's killed I'd imagine.

Edit: yep, com.viber.voip:keepAliveReceiver is a background service. I manually killed both it, and the foreground. After about 30 secs they both restarted.
