I'm just not a fan of the Samsung experience and have found that their ecosystem is going in a similar direction as Apple - for instance the media apps that only work with Samsung AV products or printers.
I think the problem with a product like Android is that it's very fragmented. You need buy in from people and commitment to ensure compatibility and co-operation between vendors, some of whom compete in the same space or have thier own ideas or relationships to consider. It's not easy to get that and so bigger companies can often decide for the betterment of their platform to limit to their own products. I don't see it as a conspiracy as much as I do requirement for the development to continue and to be able to provide end users with nice integration.
