....and that's pretty much what I did to get back from ICS to Gingerbread; I had taken a Nandroid backup before going forward, but I needed to reflash back an older CWM recovery to be able read it; so I more-or-less did the first three steps by flashing something "appropriate" (sorry to be vague, but this was on my PC at home, and I forget exactly what I had lying around). It was a CWM-included something, as all I did was flash "something" via ODIN, and then boot into CWM and recover my Nandroid backup. If anyone really wants the gory details, I'll have to look at my PC when I get home...

I went from Darky's 10.2 to OneCosmic RC3, but yes you need to do double install from recovery, first one replaces CMW with correct version, then you get a boot-loop, then you need to use three button combo (volume down + home + power) to get back into recovery and flash second time and vouala, it works...

Have been using it for a week and it is much faster and easier to use as anything I have tried previously, battery usage is only good after second / third full cycle, first cycle literally killed my battery in 2 hours without any use...

RE Facebook integration, this is not a OneCosmic problem but rather Google disabled Facebook integration in ICS, so you can use an app for it HaxSyncwhich does the trick...

if you were to go to OneCosmic, use StockPlus port of it, as it has couple of fixes... http://ics.samsung-updates.com/ICSI9000... went on it on the second day as it had GPS fixes....

Hi there..

I've been a member for years and have found some helpful advice.. great forums!!

I've recently acquired two phones..
Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S2..

I'm happy with the S2 but it's full of Telecom crap, and to be honest for the specs it seems as though it could perform better, the S(i9000) is running ok but seems to stop working for 5 to 10 seconds.

I've been reading through some of the posts about flashing to a custom rom, sounds awesome to me :)
The problem is I have no idea where to start and what to do, I'm new to all this ;)

I'm keen to do both the phones but again not sure where to start.
Can someone please guide me through this?
Any help appreciated.

For the i9000 I used the following to root my phone (Which also installed Clockworkmod recovery)

Just make sure you use the right kernel, eg my phone was running XWJVH. Other kernels from

Then installed the relevant cyanogenmod using Recovery method.

Boot into CWM using Vol Up, Menu, and Power etc. Make sure you have the update.zip file stored on your actual SD card, not the built in SD card partition.

Working well after some problems with different dpi settings and some force closes etc. Pretty stable and looks good on 200 dpi and normal font size. Pretty amazed at ICS overall.

When applications (including phone) are crashing it can be caused by the dpi. First step is to clear data of the app and force close it. You also want to do this with other related processes to the app (eg. for phone you may want to clear contacts, for music you may want to clear media storage). Then reboot. If it then doesn't work I would suggest trying a different dpi (200 works for me so far today).

One thing I've never figured out, maybe you guys can help me, I use 2degrees, but I know that they used to roam on vodafone, does this still happen? If so do I have to set up the vodafone apn as well? Or do I not need to do this?

No don't bother setting up any vodafone APN stuff. Just use the 2degrees APN, and ensure that data roaming and international data roaming is enabled, then it will "Just work" when you're outside 2degrees coverage.

Have you used (m)any of the other ICS roms? Any particular reason why you use this instead of 'CM9' or 'onecosmics'/ICSSGS release?

Now that Swype and Viber are ICS compatible I'm looking at making the switch though MIUI is pretty stable and gives me 2 days battery life so things are good atm - the grass always looks greener eh?

I have tried a CM9 and the ICSSGS, but to be honest I just had a quick go with all three, I imagine you would have to work with them all for a few days each to have a fair comparison. Just picked this one cause I liked the features that came with it. Don't think I'll bother swapping any more unless I hit a serious problem, then I'll come back for an update in a few months when ICS is really stable.

Argh now I'm trying to sort out some ongoing (since I got the phone) tagging issues with my music, think I have it though thanks to mp3tag and winamp. Bonus is winamp can automatically convert to a lower quality/small size as you sync.

Jumped on the ICS bandwagon with Bhuvan's beta 2.1 build of AOKP b23 with semaphore 0.9.1. Tried a CNA version before that but it randomly reboots. The AOKP build seems pretty stable, no issues apart from a strange 'music has stopped working' prompt when making/receiving calls.

Battery life has been pretty good too. Lasted the whole day no probs - by the time i got home from work (7.30 - 5) it had 60% charge left.

Might give be18's AOKP build 26 port a go tonight. ICS is epic. Really amazed by the panorama and time lapse features of the stock camera.

i9000t is the telecom version and will work on xt... details details.. where did you buy it.. local or trademe.. does it have a stock rom.. or has it already been flashed with custom firmware.. the more information the better then we can assist as much as possible..

was bought in from oversea's

google shows its brazil firmware and their network is wcdma 850 mhz so should work fine on xt.. pop in an xt sim its good to go.. not sure if they lock phones in brazil though

yea its sim unlocked apparently...i just dont kno anything about firmware/baseband etc

so i shouldnt even have to flash standard telecom firmware as i have seen some ppl doing?
just enter apn's and boom?

had a korean galaxy s and txt/calling was working...but no 3G due to no 850mhz
