Hi, could someone help with the installation of the SLIM ICS rom for galaxy I9000.

I've installed Darky's rom in the past but it's been a while. On their site it says:

Download a latest CM9 ROM, My latest Base and YOUR device essentials.
Enter CWM Recovery, Wipe data, Format System ( In Mounts and Storage)
Flash a CM9 ROM, reboot to recovery, flash the latest Slim base AND essentials.
Reboot to system, Enjoy.

For the CM9 rom, do I flash that from CWM recovery? Not even sure what it is but from searching it's basically ICS? From the link below do I just grab the top one?

Next do you just flash the SLIM base from SD card then the essentials back on top of it? No need to connect to PC and flash using ODIN etc?

Sorry for the late one guys.

The kernel I'm using is MICS (midnight ICS), I find it has less "tweaks" that do nothing like other kernels and uses the conservative governor which is the smoothest IMO. Give it a shot

Ok first download Team Hacksung CM9 B16(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363593), flash that with CWM. Then just flash Slim ICS with CWM once you've got b16 installed, then flash essentials with CWM as well. No ODIN :). All done basically and then install MICS/Semaphore/Devil for a huge ram kernel.

yep flash all 3 in cwm..

i flashed that cm9 nightly build too
then reboot to recovery
then flash slim base & then essentials
reboot
done

running all good here....

just changed modem to get decent 850mhz on xt....
and no usb transfer coz its cm9/slim ics could be hassle in future

No usb transfer? As in you can't transfer any files from your pc to phone? Just select usb debug in development options and it should be ok for mass storage mode?

Awesome cheers guys. Always found in past if I missed out smalls tep was a lot more painful.

The Midnight ICS kernal, does that just install again in CWM from sdcard on top of the eseentials and slim ICS? Like a speed improvement etc?

yep went to get pics off phone just now & doesnt seem to work...I started reading the slim ics topic and 2nd or 3rd page they say its a bug from cm9 or something....shrug

Ah damn, thought this had been fixed since then. If USB doesn't work that would be an issue as I'm always loading videos to watch when I go out of town.

All installed, problem free which is nice change :)

Have to say after using Darky's gingerbread rom this feels so much better. Getting used to the look of the application manager screen, kind of miss the old one. The rest is a lot better, feels a lot less bloated.

Also I plugged the usb into the computer and it let me connect as mass storage device just like old rom did no issues at all. I just had to slide the top bar down and hit the connect USB storage button.

Been running MIUI Mintberry since last November. Has been excellent but there haven't been any new updates for a while now and the ROM is FC'ing on me intermitently for some reason.

Think I have had enough, so planning to jump to ICS tonight. From the above posts, seems like SLIM ICS is the way to go. Can't wait! Hurry up and charge phone! :D

yea i thought i saw that soon after flashing the rom...but when i went to use usb for pics....none

thort was a bit strange..wonder how i can get it bak...maybe i turned something off in settings etc

Hmm getting low space error when trying to restore from Titanium Backup. Then apps start FC'ing.

I think I know what the problem is now. which I think was the issue in my MIUI ROM - that the /datadata partition gets filled up.

Attempting this fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1541942

Hope it works otherwise might have to change ROMS again.

I think it's a problem with your kernel. Saw someone else having USB issues with Midnight ICS.

Has anyone else experimented with Nexus S modems on their i9000?

I've been rocking XXKI1 and very impressed with it's overall performance - especially with battery life. Unlike the i9000 modems which seem to stick to HSxPA connections when in 3g mode, the Nexus S variants auto switch back to UMTS when data isn't actively being used.

I've read they go down to Edge also but 2g doesn't work for me with 2degrees for some reason! I can only see vodafone when I've forced it into 2g mode.

On XDA, people have noticed voice quality increase as well, but I don't think I've noticed a difference. Essentially what happens is you download the Nexus S CWM file, extract radio.img and rename to modem.bin and put it in a i9000 cwm zip.

It's pretty funny, my i9000 is more Nexus S than i9000 as the build.prop has been changed too so that Viber works properly. The ol girl's got some legs thanks to the community, with ICS and kernels with lotsa ram.

I'm running this with an ICS ROM but the modem should work on a GB ROM. I've gone through a mix of mdoems on various roms with my i9000.
