Thanks, I'd found it anyway. I actually had that modem sitting on the internal SD but it wouldn't flash. The one I've just d/l now (signed) has done the trick. Cheers :)

This thread might be dying but the i9000 lives strong. Jelly Bean is up and running for this phone already even before it's sister Nexus S' sources are out.

Haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet (phone is needed for work!) but it's looking very promising - majority of things are working:

-Touchscreen
-Call/SMS
-GPU
-Softkeys/Hardkeys
-Butter
-ADB
-USB
-Internal/External SD
-Camera
-Audio
-WiFi
-HW Video Acc
-Data 2G/3G
-Google Now
-GPS

Hoping to give it a whirl later on this week.

Works great for me. The voice search is excellent and can understand me even with a bad cold (hopefully not because I have a bad cold!).

Which version did you install? Trawling through them last night seems that in most of them the audio (ringtones,alerts) stop working randomly...

Great news though, to wake up to Pawtips CM10 alpha release on XDA. Even though it's alpha it seems like a pretty solid alpha! watch this space eh!

I installed cm-10-20120714-UNOFFICIAL-galaxysmtd-V2. Sound is OK for me, it had the ringtone set to silent by default. I miss the toggles on the notification bar though.

HI,

I have been given an NZ i9000 running CM9.

The phone is currently on vodafone, but im considering a shift to telcom.

Id like to revert back to a VF stock rom 2.3.6? I know the modem has also been flashed but im not sure what i should have.

Could some please list what the stock roms and modems are from VF and telecom networks. ( Links to a stock rom would be great )

If i flash an original stock VF rom, when i move to telcom what is needed?

If it is an I9000 (VF) and not an I9000T (Telecom) you can't use it on Telecom. Doesn't matter what software/firmware/modems you put on it. You will only get patchy UMTS2100 coverage and not national coverage.

Yep. These phones are only UMTS900/2100 (i9000) or UMTS850/2100 (i9000T). Not quad band like the iPhone4, SGSII, HTC One X, SGSIII.

Yep, there is, like most phones except the very lattest crop (SG2 onward) they only support either 850 or 900 UMTS(3G) in addition to 2100 on both. So a VF one that only supports 900MHz on UMTS will not work well outside the city limits.

This is a hardware difference, no software can change that.

Hi,

Whilst reflashing stock rom isn't too difficult, if the phone is an I9000 and NOT the Telecom I9000T model, then my understanding is that just replacing the firmware/modem won't be enough. This is because on the I9000 models, the phone itself doesn't have the hardware radio components for both the Vodafone/2Degrees frequencies (900MHz) AND the Telecom frequencies (850MHz).

Sorry to questions this, but are you guys 100% sure on this, from what i have found on the net you can flash a different modem, and if the device is rooted you can then set the bands that the phone supports, you can turn on 850 and 900. so im wondering if its just that those settings where not on.

Hi, yep we are sure, you can flash all you like but if the radio chipset has its front end filters etc tuned to one band all the software in the world will not make it work.

yep tried all the tricks to get a non 850mhz one working on 850....no luck

ended up getting another one with a 850mhz band...and still had to enable it
