Insanekiwi: Lokhor, so what additional information does your post add here? I posted on what my observation was on 2 identical model phones in same house with one on 4G vs 3G Vodafone. My wife's phone always had approx 20% more power at the end of the day. It's a relatively new model phone post 2012 production so that was bit of a surprise.

I think with processing power of Moto G probably LTE is an overkill. Just my opinion.

Screenshots from battery usage and so forth would help to see if there were other meaningful factors, primarily screen-on time.

Gutted. Was thinking of getting one of those when they hit NZ market. ]

Any one can kindly suggest an alternative; best midrange smart phone with 4G compatibility? LG G2 mini perhaps?

It will work on 4g here, as well as every other 4g compatible phone on the market, HTC one m8 excluded.

No 700Mhz Channel 28 so not much good here..

We dont use 700mhz 4g in NZ yet, current 4g phones like s4 and s5 dont have it either

I think we do 2600 or 2100?

Yeah exactly so the moto G will work,

Telecom uses 1800 too I think?

Correct, 2100/2600. The HTC One M8 works on band 28 (700).

Oops, 1800/2600 for 4g...

Does anyone have knowledge about the LTE frequency for Skinny and 2Degree as well?

It looks like at least I can have the 4G Moto G working with Voda. Good enough for me.

Telecom uses 1800 too, and maybe 2600?

Skinny is the same as telecom as they share networks, 2degrees is 1800 too

They all in NZ currently use band 3 (1800) so any fone that supports this band which the Moto G does will work..

In the big cities you will be fine, but outside of that expect to see Band 28 4G which won't work on the Moto G. Shame as otherwise it is an ideal phone.

Plenty of band 3/1800MHz 4G outside of main centres, & more going live every week: http://www.vodafone.co.nz/network/coverage/

Turning a mid-range device down because it doesn't support a band that's only present in one flagship phone in this market & not live anywhere yet seems a bit silly to me. :)

Band 28 support will become more common as operator demand ramps up & the cost of the brand spanking new chipsets that support it come down. Unsure why anyone would have realistically expected it in the LTE Moto G, still a bit early!
