Dingbatt: So far, since I booted from recovery (pwr + vol down), my TF hasn't done another problem reboot (one that hangs). For the recovery boot I didn't select the wipe option, I just let it timeout and do a normal bootup. Will continue to monitor but I accept no responsibility if you try it and lose your data, or brick your TF. My TF just has the stock recovery.

Disregard the above. My TF went into deep sleep and wouldn't wake, necessitating a cold start (long press on the pwr button).
I have sent a support request to ASUS and will wait for the reply, presumably about when the patch is coming out.

@kiwitrc, I've written a guide how to root the Pad. Plenty of screen shots taken. It was very simple and painless. Wont take you 2 minutes after you've grabbed the file from the XDA thread I posted earlier.

Hey guys, just wanting to know if a stylus could work on this? I'm considering purchasing this, as an alterntaive to my old heavy laptop, that puts a huge load on the shoulders. Will be using it to take notes and read word, powerpoint, pdf files etc, (as I'm at university). Other students have the "younger brother" of the asus prime, and say its great as an alternative to their massive laptop, (as they leave their laptop at home lol)

I'm sort of a noob to the android market, as I have no experience with it, but I'm pretty sure there are apps that have editing options for MS office applications.

Maybe I should consider a new thread...lol

yes a stylus does work as I use one at times. Just have to make sure the one you get is for a capacitive touch screen as the one for resistence touch screen wont work.

Hey Campoki,

The Asus Transformer also comes with Polaris Office installed which is compatible with Office. The great thing about the Transformer is that you can add the keyboard dock later if you find you need speed typing.

sorry if I wasnt clear. The Transformer has a capacitive screen. Some cheap android tablets have resistive. A stylus made for resistive touch screen wont work on a cacpacitve screen. So if you buy the Transformer you will need to make sure the stylus is for capacitive screen if you buy one.

Yes, do the update. I've found it to be good. Faster wifi browsing, improved response generally, nicer font etc.

A reader of the blog said he used this method (option1): http://vipermod.tiamat-dev.com/2012/01/vipermod-primer-tool-for-asus-transformer-prime. Said he wasn't successful with the method I used either but has a TF101 and it worked just fine with the Prime root. Another person who left a comment said he'd used that method too. He never replied whether it was the TF101 he was rooting though.

EDIT: This is the link I used a long time back when I was first gaining root under HC3.0. The Drivers are included seperately. I don't know if the drivers changed between HC and ICS though.

My TF was operating well on Honeycomb, so despite telling myself earlier to wait before upgrading to ICS, I went ahead and upgraded via the official OTA. While the above comments about browsing, font etc are true I can't recommend upgrading to the stock ICS at the moment mainly because of a serious bug causing the TF to reboot and lockup when it enters deep sleep. I have lost count of the number of times I have come back to my TF to find it frozen halfway through its bootup sequence.
So my advice, yes upgrade to ICS....eventually. But I would wait until this bug is sorted out. At the moment I am seriously considering going back going back to HC. I just wish I had loaded a recovery when I rooted my TF so I could just flash a saved ROM back on to it like I have done numerous times on my DesireHD when ROMs haven't worked out.

Damn that sucks, I hope that issue only exists because you rooted yours first? I receive my TF tomorrow, can't wait
