There are two sides of the LTE enabled/disabled debate.

One side is "I want it because it is in the hardware" and the other side is "It doesn't matter if it's disabled as the operator is not offering the service yet".

Both sides are correct. The operator doesn't have to enable it if the network is not "approved" yet. If they do and people start having problems when handsets try to connect to the network then people will complain. On the other hand people will complain if they have a capable handset and want to use on another network while roaming overseas for example.

There's actually a middle ground. Apple, again changing the rules, actually only allow LTE on their iPhone handsets if the network passes their tests. This means a handset with LTE service on AT&T will not have LTE enabled on Telecom. This is not because Telecom did anything but because Apple, the manufcaturer, decided that they are the ones to decide if a network is good enough to properly support LTE.

So there, three different views for the same problem.

I personally would like to have it enabled by default. But since my main network doesn't offer me the service, it doesn't bother me if it's not.

Disappointed and surprised! I just went into Parallel Imported in Newmarket to ask when they'd be getting the HTCO in, and they said they're not. Apparently due to the poor track record that HTC has with phone faults, they don't really stock HTC anymore. He also said that there was no demand for the One, so not worth their while! I told him that they're wrong, and missing out! :-)

Parallel Imported, not Parallel Imports. I know Parallel Imports has them on their website, but when I went to try one out in Albany they didn't have any in stock, not even a demo model.

Kia Ora.

My HTC One was from the UK via Clove, no extra tax and so on so all good. Its still running brilliantly and now after a couple of weeks i'm finally used to the Blinkfeed and HTC Zoe but by far the best feature is the Highlights video. strangely this isn't marketed as well as it could be yet is probably the best feature.
You create an album and automatically get a 30 second movie. which is suprisingly well assembled from video and still content. easy to remix, though you do have limited control over the exactness of the content more a selection for the photos to assemble from. but really cool in my opinion.

Just in Sydney and no suprise when i was in the Apple store on wireless the update to the latest 1.29 appeared. downloaded and installed quickly and it has improved the article noise of photo captures in zoe and sound quality in video at the least. as for speed improvements... how would you notice them! lol.

the only downside i've seen (and i ignore the extra menu buttons, meh) are;
- the memory management.
i came from a nexus 4 which basically everything you opened was well. left open. where it was. as it was. brilliant. Not HTC oh no those guys in some random brainfart decided max of 9 (i think) apps running. then memory clear out. so in effect you can end up loading an app and its not where you left it. annoying if you're a heavy user, obviously not even noticed if you're not.
- camera missing a shortcut of repeat options.
could drag and drop the odd frequent settings like say macro and HDR video to the main screen for quick access
- camera forgetting settings between closes.
when you close the app. where you left it, is gone.
that said if you lock while you have camera running then its instant launch when you unlock which is great.

and the camera... i could really rave and rave about its useability and ignore the people who worry about zoom quality but i won't. perhaps in another post i'll spit out a review.

anyway absolutely joy to use and hold.

The HTC One's that DSE sell are the telecom version. On the computer system it comes up as "HTC ONE -Telecom" The description does say it supports the LTE Bands but i am assuming that it will have the telecom firmware on it, disabling LTE.

I've never used a carrier branded phones previously for a couple of reasons.

1. International version always gets the latest updates and firmwares.
2. More custom roms, mods available on XDA forum.

With this whole LTE thing, do you need it's wise to buy an international version?

yea i'd recommend international versions. for one reason really; local provider responsiveness or rather lack of. by the time a 'feature/setting/update' usually gets available by the provider well a new model of phone is out lol.

I assume you are using this on Vodafone, as in theory it wont work on Telecom ?

I inquired at Dicksmith St Lukes regarding stock and preorders - they don't do an official pre order but will take a 10% deposit to 'reserve' one (not sure how that's different to a preorder...). The guy there also said they are only getting in 100... Country wide.... Hope that's a mistake.

My local Telecom store (St Lukes) are either keeping quiet or truly don't know about the release yet at all.. no confirmed date.. no confirmed numbers of stock.. nothing.

Yea mate I'm on Vodafone. my phone has the following and unlike my LG Nexus 4 and HTC One X which were both Dual quad bands, the HTC One is missing 850 on 3G. therefore no Telecom XT. it will work, but won't be the fastest. on a side note though, if the LTE frequencies are available you could get 3g and lte but no h+. but really probably not worth trying.

Albany DSE said they were getting 80 in on Tuesday morning, however they were unsure about the colour options as I'm only after a black one. Does anyone know 100% where to pick up a black One?
