I wondered why my global model XT1032 is stuck on 4.4.3

Here is another reference to this.

Moto G version 2 is currently on special at Noel Leeming for $249. I picked one up last week (for $300!!), I've been very impressed with it and the battery life is fantastic.

Looks like there may be a LTE version in the wings..  We can only hope.  If it does wonder how it will price up against the Moto X Mk 2??

Will it support the 700Mhz band if not its useless here.

Seems that  the UK/EU are all going out big on 2G

If they're thinking of ramping up GSM they should also go back to rotary dial phones..   apart from still using 2G for telemetry   I can't see any other justification for keeping it.  I think Vodafone said that they are shutting theirs down in 2020..

I like having 2G as a backup, I've used it plenty at events when congestion has crippled the network. Also, IIRC smart meters and mobile eftpos machines are using GSM.

I suppose it's hard to justify when it's simply a backup service, but it's nice to know its there.

They really need to beef up the ram 1gb doesn't cut it anymore, and/or Motorola need to sort the memory management out, it is the one major bugbear of the phone, mood important than LTE imho

Yes I did and my comment still stands as GSM is  a dial up technology.  GSM coverage is the same as WCDMA but then again maybe the poms  use high frequency  3G bands not 850 or 900..

I have a Moto G v2 and I'd been trying to figure out why my web browsers kept closing after a couple of minutes, it turns out it's this bug https://forums.motorola.com/posts/6168839e0e

M
otorola have made some tweaks which seems to break the memory management, I haven't tried changing the minfree values yet but it also explains why it takes 3 seconds for the home button to actually do anything. Motorola seem to be pretty quiet on the subject, so far I'm pretty disappointed with the phone.

I have developer options enabled and find that having background processes to max of 4, this seems to make the phone a lot more use friendly also I reboot it every day or two which helps keep it responsive

FYI this seeing defaults back to std every reboot

Has anyone on here had problems with the touch sensitivity screen on the Moto G (v2)? My sister bought one about a month ago, and recently two patches on the screen (one where the 'e' on the keyboard when in portrait mode is, the other about the same distance from the top on the same side) have essentially stopped responding. It makes typing well nigh impossible. She's taken it in to NL to have sorted, but just wondering if there are others who have faced the same issue.

Does anyone have an idea of when the Moto G in NZ will get the Lollipop update?

Thanks for that, it does seem more responsive since enabling that setting.

No I've not noticed any touch sensitivity problems with mine.
